Installing Splash Page with Live Network Stats in GoldenOrb
UPDATED 12-20-2022: The system files on the new kernels of OpenWRT/GoldenOrb/ROOter are continuously changing.
The splash screen in the attachment below was designed and used for our WiFiX routers a build or two back.
Instructions are included in the file and is shared for personal use only.
The Signals in this build are color coded to match the reference chart below the stats.
You will also find a short cut button I added from the Network Status page to easier access the splash page.
ORIGINAL POST: On occasion I am asked about what happened to the Splash Page that was once installed in WiFiX versions of GoldenOrb. We decided to remove and offer it as a package for those who want to install it.
This tutorial will demonstrate how to install the WiFiX Splash page on a GoldenOrb router.
The Splash Page includes a Live Network Status page that shows signal stats in live time. This is a very useful tool for fine tuning a directional antenna among other diagnostic uses.
In order to install the Splash Page files into GoldenOrb, you will need to download and install the free WinSCP utility.
Next, download the Splash 2019.rar file to your desktop and extract/unzip the rar file.
Open WinSCP and log into GoldenOrb using the SCP File Protocol, and the IP Address: 192.168.1.1 (assuming you have not changed it to another)
Enter your user name (root, unless it has been changed) and the password used to log into your router.
You will notice in the unzipped Splash 2019 folder, there are two sub-folders, OEM and www.
The OEM folder will be used to backup your original www file folder in the event anything goes wrong, or you simply want to remove the Splash Page.
Use the Drop Down selection menu on WinSCP to locate the unzipped Splash 2019 folder on your Desktop. Click on the OEM file to open it.
Use the Drop Down selector on the top right side of WinSCP to find the root directory.
Locate the www file on the right lower window, drag and drop the www file into the OEM Folder for a backup.
Now open both www folders in the Splash 2019 file (not the OEM) and GoldenOrb's root files.
Drag and drop the splash-files, and the index, splash and status html files over to GoldenOrb's www folder.
Open the luci-static files on both sides, and drag and drop the resources and rooter folder over to GoldenOrb
Exit WinSCP, and reboot the router.
You should now be able to login the Splash Page using the IP address: 192.168.1.1
DONE!

I can see where this would be very helpful. The darn misc page output window always shrinks back to a small default size every time you have to reconnect to the router and on some devices, it is difficult to make it big enough to see all the return values of "at!gstatus?". Not to mention that it requires typing and running the command again and again.JimHelms wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2019 8:38 pm The Splash Page includes a Live Network Status page that shows signal stats in live time. How frequently does the Live Network Status page auto-refresh?
Is there any limitation of being in the Live Network Status page on one tab of a browser and being logged into the normal UI in another tab at the same time?
Does it only show the values for the primary antenna, or will it show 2 lines if you have 2 hooked up?

I do not believe it would without a lot of modification.
Re: Installing Splash Page with Live Network Stats in GoldenOrb
Jim is the splash page download still good? I tried downloaded it twice on a Windows 10 computer but it wasn’t a zip file. It gave me no option to open the folders in winscp. I might have done something wrong but wanted to check with you before pulling my hair out anymore. Thanks

bcd1975, forgive me if you already knew this, but the download is a .RAR file, and you have to extract the contents first, before using WinSCP. I just downloaded it and it extracted fine.
If you don't have a RAR extractor, RarZilla is free (and of course there are many others):

Last question about this. Can it be done on the rooter firmware? I tried it on a wg1608, I might have done something wrong but I couldn’t get it to work. I had to reflash the stock firmware and start over.

Thank you for this resource! Easy to install and great real time info.
Is there a way to add: SINR to the stats displayed?

A working version with just that is still being tested and should be released on the NEXR5GO router when released.timmytimtim wrote: Tue Apr 20, 2021 11:38 am Thank you for this resource! Easy to install and great real time info.

Not yet.
Jim may have something. He's a ninja though; hard to catch.

@Didneywhorl I asked you in another thread but thought this might help remind you of exactly what I was after. Can you just make a simple module I could add in? I see all kinds of luci-config modules for things like adblock and all. For my needs I am thinking not even replace the current status page as thats more work but just an addin making maybe a status2 entry or graphic status entry that would be in addition to whats already there that way no inpact to any version as not modifying anything already there just appending the menu, and of course if issues are found you could simply remove the module and no hard no foul.
Re: Installing Splash Page with Live Network Stats in GoldenOrb
Is there a way to implement the new splash page/stats page into my current build which is Wifix branded:
GoldenOrb_2020-05-16
Anything newer just doesnt seem to work as well for me.

Re: Installing Splash Page with Live Network Stats in GoldenOrb
The version I uploaded today should work on a 2020 build.
Re: Installing Splash Page with Live Network Stats in GoldenOrb
Where can I download it from. The links above seem to point directly to files and the most recent of those are dated 2021. Also do the above install directions still apply or is the process different now?
Re: Installing Splash Page with Live Network Stats in GoldenOrb
Unfortunately this did not work. I left you a DM. I think its as simple as the 2020 build i am on is openwrt 18.x and Based on the interface changes I saw they seemed to match what i was seeing in the openwrt 19.x builds.
Thanks for all your hard work, I will assume my build is simply to old to use this splash page without more work. My version the network stats page does not even like SINR and the labels for all the stats are also different thus why I suspect your changes for for openwrt 19
