Hey Jim have you tried out the wg3526 version of your firmware? I'm assuming it's the same 8-17 firmware that was posted in the upload folder of Rooter (http://ofmodemsandmen.com/upload/). I tried it and it won't let me past the splash screen. It errors out and won't let me login. The splash screen works fine, but I had to flash back to 8-14 with no splash screen to get into the actual rooter menu. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Re: WiFiX Firmware for WE826 | WG3526 | WE3926 | WE1326 | WE1026-5G | WE3526
Yes, there is a Read Me text document that, among other things, addresses this issue. For convenience, I will list the contents below:
Firmware should only be updated using an Ethernet cable from the
LAN port of the router to the PC/Laptop network (ethernet) plug.
Using WiFi to update a firmware should be avoided when possible.
When updating the firmware, one should always UNCHECK the box to Save Settings.
The default login informtion is:
IP: 192.168.1.1
User: root
Password: admin
The WiFi login is:
SSID: wifix
Password: 12345678
If login problems are experienced, clear the cache in your web browser.
This can normally be done with the browser open, click on the top of the browser,
and press and hold the Ctrl key while pressing the F5 key.
Some browsers require different methods to clear the cache. For instance, in Google Chrome:
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More .
3. Click More tools Clear browsing data.
4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
6. Click Clear data.
Also you can do a google search for "clearing cache in (the name of your web browser)" for instructions.
WiFi Settings:
The default WiFi country code is set to US. This provides 30dBm on 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz has access
to all the channels with TX power from 23dBm to 30dBm depending on the channel.
It is recommended to use the default WiFi settings on the router.

Is there a list of features/specs somewhere, how is this firmware different than r00ter?

Even with this firmware I still have connection issues on Android (Samsung, to be exact). WiFi stays on but Internet stops working and Android switches over to 4G. Is it the WiFi or is it something else?

would also like to know the difference between the WiFix firmware and standard Rooter? Also, who assembles/compiles and maintains the packages. What was the purpose of the variation?

The WiFiX version is based on a newer kernel than the stable release 2017 version of GoldenOrb. This allows a modem to be run in QMI composition.reto.sommer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:27 am +1

It also has support for the EM7565 and other newer and not so commonly used modems.
It includes a custom Firewall page/tab for Custom TTL rules.
A splash page is added with Live Time network stats to better help aim an antenna.
The WiFiX version is compiled and maintained by Dairyman who compiles all GoldenOrb builds.
The new GoldenOrb builds (not yet available from the GoldenOrb download page) are (and will be) compiled with most of the items above, less the Splash page with Live stats.
The new WiFiX versions on the next release will also not have the Splash page. But, we will offer it on the forum to install as a separate package.

Glad to hear there is active firmware support for the routers you offer. PS: got the 3526 up and running in no time.

How do we load the WE826-Modem Manager-APN-12-1-18.bin as a stand alone flash?. The WiFi don't start and I cant access via Ethernet cable? Something I should read?

Could not use ModemManager lack of know how.
826-T_826-WD_ndis_V1.2_20180629_UPGRADE.bin [to load this I had to do the 30-30-30 reset]
The above is the only .bin file picking up my Three Flags (China) LTE LM 9265 modem Cat4 that arrived with my WE826 t(e) in 2016 - I could get it working assigning USB 0 but major problems with reliability and my ignorance
Some data-----from 826-T---
Question: Why is none of the other (bin) files picking up Eth0 modem
Do I have to configure bridges and routes?

Each new version of GoldenOrb usually fixes or tweaks something and adds more modems. It may also add or remove certain features. I do not know there is a lot of difference between the two builds you mention.
I personally prefer to use the lasted version.
Re: WiFiX Firmware for WE826 | WG3526 | WE3926 | WE1326 | WE1026-5G | WE3526
@JimHelms, do you still have the link to the earlier version of WiFix GoldenOrb firmware for WG3526? I am experiencing poor wifi thru-put on 2.4GHz with the latest. I have already tried the modem manager firmware for WG3526 and still yielded the same result. Thanks in advance.

I would use the Firmware Recovery Mode to upload the firmware.
That should assure there is nothing left behind from the previous build.
It is also required when going from a newer kernel build to an older one.
These are some of the builds I have. I am not sure which is what or the difference in them.

Thanks a lot @JimHelms and the heads up about firmware recovery mode.
My WiFi bandwidth on 2.4GHz did improve. Do you happen to have the WG3526 WiFix version openwrt-wg3526-GO2019-01-13-upgrade.bin somewhere? I couldn't find it anywhere. I would like to be on the second most recent build before the latest one with wifi issues.

Jim,
Where would the link to download the splash page be found?
Thank you,

Is there going to be a WiFix version of the ROOTer firmware available for the Q (Qualcomm) version of the WE826 router. Though I notice your site is stocking what seems to be another variant of the Q based router. I assume they would use the same compatible firmware? I prefer WiFix over the ROOTer variant.

Hello all, I just got a Wiflyer 4g LTE router which uses the WE3926 chipset and has OpenWRT. Trying to find a firmware that is supported with TTL settings. I tried downloading the suggested Golden Orb Wifix firmware and uploaded the firmware to the router but got an error message saying that the firmware was for the wrong model. Any ideas?

The WE3926 is a budget version of the WE826 in a plastic box, and the it's compatible with the WE826/WE1026 firmware according to the GoldenOrb website (ZBT WE826/WE1026/WE3926).
Here's the latest version dated 2020-07-25:

Try to flash it using the bootloader method:

I think so. But you'll have to use the firmware recovery method, search on this forum for it, to load it.

Installed succesfully on WE826, but can't install additional kernel-dependent software. For example i need pptp vpn support and then there must be pptp kernel module to be installed inside. When i tries to install module via "software" menu i get foolowing error:

post here for firmware specific issues like this: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/ ... =-1#bottom
I believe it has to do with the kernel of the router is not the same that is needed for support of that package. It is a frustrating thing sometimes. Ask there, there is another version that is available that it may work with. Most of the latest packages work best with openWRT base 19+ and the WE826 based firmwares are all openWRT 18+.... except one experimental version.

My newly purchased RV had a Lippert Component roof mount preinstalled for their One Control Hotspot (WE826-T) which I bought. Then I find out that the 3rd party provider of data plans had terrible plan pricing. But since they won't allow a return and refund, I'm looking at reloading generic firmware that will allow me to use the AT&T unlimited plans. Is this possible and does anyone know which FW rev will work?

When you uncheck the save settings, do you lose all your configurations (i.e. have to resetup APN, TTL, static IPs, etc.)? Can you backup the settings, then upgrade firmware, and then restore the backed up settings or does the backup not cross firmware versions?

It does make you lose those settings. I generally will not use a saved config, but yes you can do so. It's in the same menu as the firmware flash. You can use configs across different firmware versions, technically.
