WiFix WE826-GO and Quectel EM20-G - Modem Timeout Error

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a WE826GO-U, Quectel EM20, PCI-E to M.2 adapter, and MHF4 pigtails. I know the M.2 400Mbps limitation will be present and I would be grateful for that speed

This is my second build on a WE826 and I believe I followed the directions well. Pre-tested SIM card in phone and confirmed service is working. Started up without modem installed, configured APN, synced local time, and configured TTL.

Installed modem, connected antenna pigtails/external antennas, and inserted SIM card into WE826; then turned unit on.

General information section (Modem-->Network Status) shows Provider field as always "Connecting". Additionally the Modem/SIM Information table is completely blank.

Modem Debug screen shows the following and this is repeated after every restart:

Appears I am unable to connect to modem due to timeout and I cannot issue any AT commands. I tried re-flashing latest firmware, however have the same issue.

Did I miss any steps? Any ideas on troubleshooting steps I can take?

I would try this FIRMWARE build.

You will need to add this script in the SYSTEM > STARTUP > LOCAL START UP (at the bottom) and SUBMIT.

echo "0x2c7c  0x0620" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id 

You will have to reboot the router for it to take effect.

The latest version of GoldenOrb is having issues communicating with the EM20-G. It is believed that Quectel changed something in the firmware on the latest EM20-G's

They are working on the issue over on the GoldenOrb/Rooter forum now.

Also, your LAN ports on the we826 are MAX 100Mbps, so dont get hopes up for more.

You may also want to look at THIS post which will most likely work with the current WiFiX firmware build.

so I'm having this same issue, just downloaded the latest Golden Orb for my ZBT-WE826 (16M) with EM20-G
it sees under the device information, but I can not make any AT commands to it.

I added to the startup what you have here.
I also went to the other thread and made the custom port settings as suggested.

the link to the version of firmware you have here doesn't work.

is there an older version of firmware that works?

So I rolled back the Firmware , Im running
GoldenOrb_2019-03-10

i added the startup command

and I get further, now at least it connects to the modem and has the modem type listed

but I keep getting these errors now

on this version of firmware setting the custom modem ports doesn't seem to work properly.
it only fills in the vender id and that it after you hit save.

Use the FIRMWARE recovery method and upload the lastest WiFiX firmware which works with all versions of the EM20-G Firmware.
