Hello,
I have installed a dw5811e on dell e5570, the problem is that it is only working on 3g mode, I'm trying to flash the device to generic mode but I could not get the putty to connect, there is 2 com ports available, on port3 just black screen with no input enabled and on port5 just some numbers, I'm not an expert on computer programming, could someone please let me know how to make the connection correct to run the commands , thanks

Re: EM7455 putty connection
The DW5811E is basically a Dell branded Sierra EM7455B with locked firmware, therefore it's a pain to work with.
You're better off just replacing it with a standard/unlocked Sierra EM/MC7455. Just my 2cents.

Re: EM7455 putty connection
IIRC, the third COM port is revealed under
DeviceManager -> Modems -> dw5811e -> Properties
Was a way to determine COM port numbers and then go straight to putty
