Cradlepoint CBA850 install with tp link 3g/4g wireless router
Trying to set up a home wifi network using mobile hotspot carrier, after extensive research cradlepoint cba850 was best modem for me. I ordered one and realized need a wireless router. Have wireless router now and cannot get a internet through router. Called cradlepoint and they said this modem is incapable of making a wifi signal, but it's seems other are able to get it. Should I continue to try with these devices or go another route.
Any help highly appreciated

The CBA850 does not have WiFi. It is used strictly as a modem.jvon49 wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 5:29 pm Called cradlepoint and they said this modem is incapable of making a wifi signal, but it's seems other are able to get it.
I would first plug the CBA850 into a PC, and go through the tutorial and get it connected to the internet.
Once you have an internet connection, unplug the power.
Then connect an ethernet cable from the CBA850 LAN 1 to the WAN on your WiFi router. Then, power on your WiFi router and then the CBA850.

That is how the vast majority of people use the CBA850LP6jvon49 wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 8:13 pm So with doing that, I should be able to produce a wifi Network

It is possible they are one the same subnet and conflicting with one another. Try plugging the ethernet cable in the LAN2 port. It uses a different IP address.

I tried that way as well still router not picking up internetJimHelms wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:19 pm It is possible they are one the same subnet and conflicting with one another. Try plugging the ethernet cable in the LAN2 port. It uses a different IP address.

Re: Cradlepoint CBA850 install with tp link 3g/4g wireless router
I am a little confused whether you are having issues with the CBA850 connecting to the internet, or whether the TP-Link will not connect to the CBA850 to use as its WiFi source.
Re: Cradlepoint CBA850 install with tp link 3g/4g wireless router
CBA850 is connecting to internet, I can connect a PS4 and laptop via ethernet and have full internet access. When I connect CBA850 to router via usb or Ethernet, it does not produce internet via WiFi signalJimHelms wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2019 9:39 am I am a little confused whether you are having issues with the CBA850 connecting to the internet, or whether the TP-Link will not connect to the CBA850 to use as its WiFi source.

Re: Cradlepoint CBA850 install with tp link 3g/4g wireless router
I see. I am not sure. It may be something in the TP Link that is preventing or blocking the connection.
This is generally not the case with good WiFi routers. This is the first time I have heard of a router not accepting the data from the CBA850. Unfortunately, I know little about the TP Link you are using.
I do know that a USB connection is not the way to go. The LAN off the Cradlepoint must plug into either the WAN or the LAN of the TP Link.
We use a LinkSys WRT1900ACS and it a plug and play setup. We also have two different access points in different locations, all feeding from the internet provided from the CBA850LP6.

I am out of the office until tomorrow, but I will google your TP Link and see if there is anything special about it.

This isn't clear to me, so I'm not sure I can offer advice.jvon49 wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2019 11:04 am CBA850 is connecting to internet, I can connect a PS4 and laptop via ethernet and have full internet access. CBA850 over an ethernet connection between an end device and the CBA850 works. You get internet over the LTE connection.
CBA850 to router via ethernet does not provide internet over wifi. Do you mean wifi in the CBA850 or the router? I thought the CBA850 didn't have wifi, so I'm going to assume you mean the router. Let me know if I'm wrong.
Are you able to connect to the wifi on the router with or without the CBA850 connected to the router over ethernet? And if you are able to connect, can you run a ping command from the laptop and ping the PS4?
Spelling this out, in case it will help you or others:
You'll need to get the IP address on the PS4 using these instructions:
- Go to the Settings option in the PS4 Dashboard.
- Then select Network from the list of options.
- Select the View Connection Status option.
- On the View Connection Status page you can find the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and the Mac Address.
On the pc, go to a command prompt and run:
ping 1.2.3.4
Where 1.2.3.4 is the ip address of the PS4.
When you have the PS4 connected to the CBA850 over ethernet, get the IP address at that point in time too, and give us that address. Giving us the address from the wifi connection on the router and the ethernet connection on the CBA850 will help in determining how the networks are being set up in each device.
Are you connecting the ethernet from the CBA850 to the router's WAN port or one of the 4 LAN ports?
Have you tried the CBA850 over ethernet to the router and then from the router to the PS4 and/or laptop over ethernet as well? If not, plug the CBA850 into the router through the WAN port of the router and the other devices into the LAN ports on the router with ethernet.

Re: Cradlepoint CBA850 install with tp link 3g/4g wireless router
Since you have internet service from the CBA850LP6 to the other devices (i.e., PS4, laptop), it is doing its job.jvon49 wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:47 pm Any suggestions guys do you think it could be a firmware issue?
I think you need to invest on a good WiFi router.
