Thanks. Do you have MR6500-1A1NAS for the AT&T branded MR6500?

It's not, actually. The Telus model is there (1TLAUS), but not 1A1NAS. And there is no search on that folder.

I tried a few times to download some of the firmware, but the only option I could see on that site to download was "Download Everything".
Every time I tried that, all I got was "Download failed. Try later". Apparently you must download and install Yandex's downloader, and you must register a Yandex account to do so. What's worse, you have to give them your mobile number so they can text you a 2FA token. No thanks.

According to Yandex docs, you're supposed to be able to download individual files one at a time without signing up and installing software I used Google to translate the website, but didn't see any option in English that sounded like there was. Did you mark these folders/files as downloadable in Yandex?

Thanks.

Is there some way to just download one image file at a time and not the entire folder or download multiple files without signing up and installing software? I used Google to translate the website, but didn't see any option in English that sounded like there was.

Thanks.

While you can't download an entire folder without the app, you can double click on each folder, then double click on each file to download it (correct me if I'm wrong).
For example, here's the latest file for the MR6550-100PAS_12.01.51.00_00_Generic_05.03_00
https://disk.yandex.ru/d/sijU8h1sKJu6Fg ... 0.secc.cwe
Then click on the down arrow at the top right of the screen.

TLAUS is Telstra (Australia), NOT Telus.

Thank you for having shared this information.

Two questions:
1. How do we flash these to our devices? fdt.exe? some other way?
2. For 6550-PPAS, which is the last version that still has OPENMEP and OPENLOCK available via telnet?

Rename the file from <firmware_version>.secc.cwe to <firmware_version>secc.cwe.spk and then upload through the router's web interface.

Just install the 6550 fw on every M6 device. It works on 6400 and 6150 without an issue. Touchscreen lag and bugs also appear to be fixed on both models.

EDIT: The 6150 with the 6550 fw appears to only open the telnet port once per restart, after that it closes and you have to restart again. Not sure if this is because 6550 fw on the 6150, however, the 6400 with 6550 fw on it, does not close it after first connection!

UWB and UC no longer work after MR6550 fw upgrade to my MR6500. Doesn't seem to be a full flash. Bands N41 and N261 not showing up either, which were added to 6550. Had the same issue with prior flash. Can anyone re-confirm this?

That is because these factory packed firms (spk/cwe) do not write all parts, especially the parts you need it to.
and some of them it only writes generic or non specific values, such as parts of the efs, userrw, cust and hdata.
you can see my screenshot to compare the devices partitions and the unpacked cwe files
6550 compare.PNG
That is why after you load it (6550) then go to the device information part on the screen it still will show 6500 firm version.
These parts need to be made into a ubi from a working 6550 and then loaded to the 6500.
The fdt utility not only compares hash's but it also verify's the sku from the device and the firmware trying to be loaded and will not write all or in cases any of the cwe's files to the new device.
Making ubi's and loading them is the way to get it all to write.

Also care should be taken when trying to force a different devices firmware onto your device, it is easy to
end up in bootloop and these devices are way to expensive to be screwing them up, the op should have put a disclaimer in there to only try this if you are sure what you are doing,
In the 2 weeks this thread has been up I have recovered 3 people's devices already from this thread that borked their devices, it cost them a hundred bucks each and shipping both ways to get them recovered.
So be careful people!

Thanks, Rich. Does that risk exist only when you try cross-flashing firmware from another device, or even when you are flashing the device with the same name as the firmware?

Also, since no one replied earlier, I thought I'd ask again: Does anyone have firmware for the MR1100-2A1NAS?

There are risks involved anytime you load firmware, however they are much greater when using cross sku's and when you dont increment versions by one like they are meant to be.

This entire archive was received by me and published in the original here (https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtop ... =126851144).
If anyone is familiar with the Russian language or uses Google Translate, you can see that I did not recommend installing these firmwares, but using them exclusively for research.
I also warned that you should not flash firmware from other SKUs, because this can lead to problems and device failure.
I also warned that some of the firmwares have never been officially published; they are builds for developers and can lead to unstable operation.
But some people who did not understand the nuances began strange experiments, and then copied the link to the archive of files, but they did not copy the warnings.

I agree with Rich - installing even the correct version of firmware can damage your device, especially if it is interrupted incorrectly during the process. Firmware always creates a risk.
The risk increases greatly if you do not know the source of origin of the firmware - I think not only me or Rich can modify the firmware in such a way that it may contain dangerous modifications, such as viruses or malware
The risk increases if you downgrade the firmware version or install firmware from a device for a different region or different SKU
The risk increases if the firmware version number cannot be found in references on the Internet - this is probably a test build or an unpublished version.

So once you've loaded 6550 firmware onto any other M6 model, it will continue to update to 6550 FWs. My 6150, which has 6550 .20 loaded on it, auto updated to 6550 .47, which is the highest any of the M6s will auto update to, you can, however, manually update to the .51 leaked FW and everything is still wide open.

So which is it?

AKosterin (who posted original ROMs @ https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtop ... y126851144) says .53 is "research[]" only, and "not a stable build". Q to AKosterin - what makes this .53 unstable?

hkm2030 (who is OP of this thread, and per https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtop ... =128172732 and https://www.adslgate.com/thread.php?t=2658387 appears to have provided desired backup of original ROM posting) says .53 is "very wonderful" and "works very efficiently", and appears to have been "approve[d]" by "the company". Q to hkm2030 - what makes this .53 wonderful and efficient, and which company approved it (Netgear)?

Without answers or consistent information, this is very confusing.

.53 is not stable firmware. It is firmware for Netgear testers with RA func (Remote Admin). Some NV Items from decrypted firmware:
2024-04-17 01.10.18.png
2024-04-17 01.11.36.png
2024-04-17 01.11.25.png
2024-04-17 01.10.31.png
Last public stable firmware is .48. For example official resporse of update service for MR6450-100EUS is:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><UMF><Header><Version>24.04.16.09</Version><FormatVer>100</FormatVer></Header><Updates><Update UID="Generic_MR6450_0034"><Type>CT_EAGLE</Type><URL>.../MR6450-100EUS_23115597_NTGX65_10.04.25.00_00_Generic_00.34_00.secc.cwe</URL><Size>229379288</Size><CRC32>#0C9284A9</CRC32><DescTitle>Generic_MR6450_0034</DescTitle><Priority>1</Priority><Version><PktVer>10.04.25.00</PktVer></Version><DescDetail><enu>Generic_MR6450_0034</enu></DescDetail><Enabled>1</Enabled></Update><Update UID="MR6450-100EUS_0126"><Type>CT_EAGLE</Type><URL>.../MR6450-100EUS_23115597_NTGX65_12.01.48.00_00_Generic_01.26_00.secc.cwe</URL><Size>248288418</Size><CRC32>#57908630</CRC32><DescTitle>MR6450-100EUS_0126</DescTitle><Priority>2</Priority><Version><PktVer>12.01.48.00</PktVer></Version><DescDetail><enu>MR6450-100EUS_0126</enu></DescDetail><Enabled>1</Enabled></Update></Updates></UMF>
Do you need any more proof from me?
I do not recommend installing such firmware. If hkm2030 and others do not stop advising what they do not understand, then I will simply close access to my archive and will give it out only to advanced researchers.
And only then let hkm2030 ask for access to “stable” firmware, if he officially communicates with the company.

Thank you for the more detailed explanation re firmware, @AKosterin. Your warnings are well-articulated, and heard (at least by me).

So now, slightly OT, I am curious to get my devices on stable FW sooner than later. To that end,

1. is it possible to downgrade FW on Netgear MR6550, without bricking the MR6550, within the 12.x series (i.e., say, for example, "non-stable" 12.01.51.00 -> "latest stable" 12.01.47.00)? Has anyone done this FW downgrade?

2. on a related note, is it possible to downgrade FW on Netgear MR6500, without bricking the MR6500, from the 12.x FW series to the 10.x FW series (i.e., say, for example, 12.01.16.01 -> 10.04.22.00)? Has anyone done this FW downgrade?

That seems a bit extreme, no? For some people who have serious problems, why couldn't they just update to one of the builds and then update again to a more stable build (even OTA, assuming that's working)?

Because if flashing can help with at least something (although I very much doubt it), then it’s enough to flash exactly the same firmware that is currently installed on the device.
Why is it not worth upgrading the device’s firmware version to unstable for this purpose, and then rolling back to stable? Because at least some of the NV parameters are changed along with the firmware, you may end up with a combination of NV parameters and other parameter elements where the device cannot operate correctly. Such changes are not tested by the manufacturer and no one guarantees the performance of the resulting surrogate.
In fact, some of these experiments end sadly. for their owners, as Rich Hathaway wrote about earlier.

New stable firmware for M6 Pro devices was published:
  • MR6450-100EUS_23115597_NTGX65_12.01.54.00_00_Generic_02.05_00
  • MR6550-100PAS_23115682_NTGX65_12.01.54.00_00_Generic_05.09_00
  • MR6550-100APS_23115772_NTGX65_12.01.54.00_00_Generic_01.31_00
I haven’t tried updating yet - I’ll wait until positive reviews for this firmware appear in the official Netgear community.

It is the official version of the leaked update 53. It seems that it has proven its effectiveness and has been approved as number 54
