Well, I tried my Novatel/Verizon USB730l, and it was recognized by FreshTomato, but didn't work properly. I gave the Device codes to the lead FreshTomato developer and he wrote a code commit, so that modem will very likely work in the next FreshTomato release.

I would think that command would probably be the same as on the USB730l. Have you checked the AT command reference for that? It's easily available.

I finally figured out that the device was carrier locked to AT&T. The Seller gave me an unlock code that worked. Now the web interface shows all screens. Novatel told me that I don't need to install drivers for the other devices at all if I just want to use the dongle in host mode.

In case you can use it, here is the AT Command Reference Guide for the USB730l.
I know there are sometimes risks if you use the wrong AT command, but hopefully, this might still help.

SOLVED. I finally got this to work after calling Inseego tech. support. They were very helpful, and stepped me through it.
First, an Inseego support tech sent me the correct update file.
Then, I needed to go to the dongle's web interface page for local updates:

Is the power light on solid or is it flashing red? According to Netgear, if it's flashing red continuously, the modem has a firmware fault or hardware problem.

It's not just the JTAG interface that's needed, but the proper loaders specific to each device.
Simply having a hammer, you can built a house without all the constructions materials. heh
