AT&T MF279 wireless router replacement

Post by jpeeze »

HI,

I'm new to this forum so bare with me. I'm needing to replace my AT&T MF279 wireless router. It's old and I find myself having to reboot it more often lately. I have tried emailing and using the contact page on wireless haven but have not got an reply so im posting to see if you all can help. Here is the link for the specs on at&t site below.

https://www.att.com/device-support/arti ... ssNetMF279

Your help is appreciated.

Hey there! I typically cover emails at Wireless Haven, which email did you use? I tested the contacts and all went through for me in incognito sent tests.

For the device, are you looking for a new device router and modem, or are you using the ATT unit with another home type wifi router for the house, just using it as a modem?

I just use the AT&t device. It takes a SIM card and it is wireless.

Understood. So you are looking for a new hotspot device or similar that is wifi, router, and modem all in one, correct?

The NEXPRO V2 is a good choice if you want an upgrade and more power: https://store.thewirelesshaven.com/prod ... o-5g-rm520

If you are looking for something that you can get from the ATT stores, the Nighthawks are pretty popular, as well as Inseego stuff. I'm not familiar with all the models of those.

I will go to the store and check it out. Is it hard to setup the device?

Does it matter if my current router is 4g lite?

Very little setup per carrier, and full support including one on one support.

Nope, it'll still work.

ATT does restrict access to 5G bands based on that, but there are simple ways around that.

Just purchased the NEXPRO V2 from the link above. Is there any information I need to be gathering while I'm waiting on the device to help speed up the process?

Thanks

All you need is the IMEI from the device the SIM is intended for, we copy that to the modem in the router, and the rest is pretty much plug and play.

Once you log in to the gui on the left you go to the at command. There is a box there just type the imei number in and hit enter. It should return “ok.”

Got through that part, Cellular info showing 4G and all bars. I’m connected to WiFi but have on internet connection. The connection time shows zero.

Network up and working. Don’t know if it had anything to do with it but I added serial number and rebooted.

Just guessing but it was probably the reboot.
