Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
I'm really hoping someone here can help me. I live on 8 acres outside of Louisville, KY. No one will service my address so I'm left with only LTE internet.
I had been using the $35 iPad plan in a Nighthawk connected to my Eero network. It worked ok but lately I have had to restart the Nighthawk multiples times a day.
I have excellent ATT signal. Terrible Verizon signal.
I am interested in any kind of plan that would provide me reliable unlimited data data with streaming and allow me to connect it to the Eero to provide wireless internet in my house. I've read about the ATT Business plan but not sure how to implement it.
Budget is $200 or less per month.
PLEASE help me. Thank you!

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
I looked into the ATT Business plan
It was $200 for 50Gig... Ouch
I would try to simplify your setup and
Just use the nighthawk as a test.
Resetting a modem does not sound like a SIM issue
May also need a modem that you can change the TTL settings
Take a look at no limit data
Looks like they are out of stock at the moment

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
You are not the only one experiencing this. Best guesses seem to be ATT pausing/disabling connections that probably cross the 22gb soft cap. A reboot brings it back online for a period (random times)
IF anyone knows how to tackle please post.

I'm not interested at all in Nomad.
Looks like the other one is sold out of the ATT and Verizon plans. I would want a byod ATT plan.
Any other thoughts on how to help me? I'm interested in the ATT Business plan (or similar) connected to my Eero.
Hoping someone can give me some options.

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
Nomad has SIM only plans.... BYOD
For ATT will need to go to the ATT Store and prove you have
a business..... Tax ID which I have, but the $200 for 50Gig of data was a little to
rich for me!!
OTR internet is another but they never have any SIMS. I was burn with them,
payed my membership and got a TM SIM then a month into it they dropped TM..... ;-(
They wanted to switch me to ATT, but I have no ATT towers near me.
All the cell carriers are pirates. For true "Unlimited Data" will need to deal with the level-3 bottom feeders.
Use caution and good luck my friend!

Thank you. I'm not going to deal with the bottom feeder companies. Not sure who is legit anyway.
I've read you can sign up for ATT Business online and claim sole proprietorship.

Keep the group updated on what you find!!
The SIM/Data Plan is the hardest part to the internet puzzle.
The hardware (Modem, Antenna, Cabling) is the easy part...

Tethering from a phone might be an option. If you use EasyTether, data will be counted as phone data, not hotspot. I have a Raspberry Pi running EasyTether and Wireguard. I'm in the process of writing a blog post describing it.

Do I run EasyTether on my phone?

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
Why wouldn't you just get the $20 unlim postpaid ipad plan? I switched from the prepaid $35plan to Postpaid $20 plan and have had no issues.
Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
I tried that but they said I needed to own an iPad.thejohnfist wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 9:52 am Why wouldn't you just get the $20 unlim postpaid ipad plan? I switched from the prepaid $35plan to Postpaid $20 plan and have had no issues.
I told them that I wasn't intending to use it in an iPad, it was for my modem and they told me that they didn't allow that and the account would probably be shut down if they detected it.
I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't have said that.

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
100% don't tell them that. They don't need your iPad, just give them the IMEI for an ipad (make sure its a LTE capable model) and tell them you left it at home.tetranz wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 11:36 am I tried that but they said I needed to own an iPad.

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
So my iPad plan been shut down too. I'm hesitant to add a postpaid line for ipad because my father pays for that and if they come around and charge us fines or shut down account he will be furious.thejohnfist wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 9:00 am 100% don't tell them that. Thinking of buying an att prepaid phone sim and trying that out though that's $60/month with autopay vs $20...
Any suggestions? Using mofi 4500. My mom wants to go with this line of sight internet provider but they're charging $120/month for unlimited. Speeds said up to 25mbps on website but the rep told her 3-6....

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
Let me reiterate. You can get the ipad plan entirely on it's own. I don't use AT&T for anything other than my ipad plan. It's $20/mo post paid unlimited.
Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
How? Don't I need to have an iPad too first? Pretty sure if I go in store they're just gonna try to add it to postpaid linethejohnfist wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:35 pm Let me reiterate. Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
Here's literally how I did it:techp1 wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:42 pm How? Don't I need to have an iPad too first? Pretty sure if I go in store they're just gonna try to add it to postpaid line
1. Locate a CORPORATE STORE - call and ask stores in your area, they will know if they are corporate or not.
2. Tell the rep at the store you want to open a new account for an unlimited iPad data plan.
3. MAKE SURE they understand that they CANNOT SEE the plan unless they look up plans BY IMEI number.
4. Give them the IMEI number of an iPad that has LTE capability, and they will load plans that work for it.
5. They should see the plan - proceed and succeed.
edit: don't ask unnecessary questions, and don't provide unnecessary answers. Just tell them what they NEED to know. If they want reasons why you don't have the iPad just tell them you left it at home and had your kid/wife/parent/whatever text you the IMEI

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
Do you need ATT service? Calyx is $500 a year and unlimited on Sprint/T-Mobile. I use it for my primary internet on the road with an ATT plan as a backup.

Re: Help Me Find a Replacement for ATT iPad Plan
Not a bad plan! Saw this announced last week and stopped by a store to ask about it. Maybe because it is new, reps are confused, but told you had to use / buy their crappy little hotspot to use plan. She did say business customers might be able to use their own device. Think plan opening up tomorrow ( dec 13th), so maybe all the terms will be stated clearly.Dr-BroadBand wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 2:47 pm SIM Solution, 100GB, 5G, T-Mobile, $50
