Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
I have a cradlepoint CBA850 with an MC400LP6 modem which does not connect to Verizon.
I have used this SIM in a WiFix WE826GO and that works fine after following the information in this thread https://www.wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?p=11112#p11112
Attached are some log entries after a reboot and putting it in verbose logging mode. I'm not sure how else to proceed and could use some pointers. Signal is 100%.
I've tried many different settings for the modem like overriding the APN to vzwinternet.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
Your Cradlepoint is most likely doing the auto selection for firmware. It's probably selecting Verizon firmware and your SIM isn't compatible. You need to disable auto select if possible through settings and select the generic firmware.freep wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 12:03 pm I have a cradlepoint CBA850 with an MC400LP6 modem which does not connect to Verizon.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
Unfortunately I am now unable to upgrade the firmware on my modem. I upgraded to the latest release of the firmware. When that didn't work, I attempted to reset to the OEM version. When that came back up the OS complained about the firmware and OS version being mismatched and now I can't update the firmware without running into a timeout error.
I've tried with multiple browsers and machines and I'm pretty much dead in the water.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
You mis-read my post. I didn't tell you to update. I asked you to see if your modem had other firmware available preferably the generic one to switch it to. Since you are now stuck, try to delete the mismatching firmware and PRI then update again. Look up the AT commands for your modem on how to delete them. I had experienced that before. It's not dead dead. Hopefully you get it sorted out.freep wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 12:02 pm Unfortunately I am now unable to upgrade the firmware on my modem. Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
Thanks. Unfortunately, I did all of that before I read your post. How do I delete the firmware?
Also where do I look up the AT commands for my modem?
Sorry about the basic questions, I'm a data guy and only do comms as needed.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
That was very helpful, Yipzy. Thank you.
I have managed to delete the slot that had the generic firmware and the slot with the verizon firmware and am loading the latest firmware build for Generic but I am still running into the same problem of timing out on the "Setting Mode(file 1 of 2)" screen.
I'm going to try again from a different machine and browser and see if I have better luck.
The error I'm getting in the log is "Timed out waiting for device pmip2 to replug."

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
Maybe it's waiting for the Verizon firmware you deleted as it is trying to switch to it?
Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
Here are various screen shots from the last attempt. I don't know what to do at this point. I can't get the firmware loaded.

Did you also clear the carrier preferences along with firmwares? Maybe you need another OEM reset.

OK I deleted the carrier preferences and the only difference now is that the 4 slots I could see in the firmware list is now only Verizon. For some reason that didn't delete. But that's somewhat a good thing because without the slots available on that page there is no way to load new firmware.
But trying to load new firmware still results in a timeout.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
It shouldn't show any firmware after clearing the firmwares and carrier preferences. Maybe you need to remove the sim and try again and also delete the firmware. Then without the sim, try to load/update firmware manually from the post I linked. If it still doesn't work. Try my next suggestion below.
What about resetting it to factory settings?

Well I don't think it matters since you deleted all the firmwares. But I do think you need the Verizon sim in to flash manually with a Verizon firmware and won't let you flash the generic?

The reason I wasn't able to see the other three slots must have been browser based. I switched to a different machine and different browser and can now see the list. I inserted the SIM and tried to upgrade the generic FW. Here are the messages from the log so far.

I'll try to reproduce your problems and see if I could solve them tomorrow. I happen to have a CBA850 with MC400LP6 laying around.
Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
i had a similar problem, in the modem firmware section the verizon was checked, i'm on at&t? the only slot with firmware was sprint. att, verzion and gerinic said "no firmware installed".
i tried to install all the carriers latest firmware and could not get them to install this was with my activate at&t sim installed.
since the only slot ith firmware was sprint i put a new sprint sim in and let the modem sit for a 1/2 hour.
when i checked on it the check moved from verizon to sprint as the active carrier so i at least got that to happen.
i then put back my active at&t sim and went away for some time again.
this time when i checked again the check moved to at&t and the modem was online. but still all but sprint showed no firmware installed.
now with it online starting with at&t i did the live update from the cradlepoint server, before i was using firmwares i had downloaded before.
the at&t installed with no errors so i did the same for the other 3, verizon, sprint and generic and they all installed.
i don't know if any of this will help your situation but that's how i got mine back up.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
OK I tried flashing without a sim. I opened another window to enter CLI commands and monitored the log. When I would see the "waiting for modem to unplug" message I would issue the command set /control/gpio/POWER_EN_MDM1 0" and the flashing would continue.
While I made progress I ended up getting the following errors
Timed out waiting for device pmip8 to replug.
Error durring modem upgrade: Type: <class 'services.utils.upgrade_write.TimeOutError'
Retrying modem firmware upgrade. Remaining retries: 0
So I'm going through that same process again it seems and I suspect it will hang on waiting for device pmip8 to replug
Edit: after retrying again using the same technique above but for generic I end up hanging at "waiting for device pmip20 to replug or waiting for pmip22 to replug and some other pmip + number entries.

Re: Verizon carrier reject on CBA850 with MC400LP6(anyone else have this working?)
Very interested in this thread. I have a spare line with Verizon with unlimited data that I'd love to put in my CBA850 but Verizon detects that I have moved my SIM from my iPhone to the Cradlepoint and won't let it work. Hoping that maybe using a generic firmware or some other trickery would allow the SIM to be used in the modem. Sucks to have an unlimited plan sitting on an unused phone when I could slap it into my LTE modem as a backup internet connection.

Verizon detects modem IMEI and matches it to the SIM registration IMEI
