NOOB WE826 and EM7565 Activation Question

Post by ken.piper »

I ordered a WE826 and EM7565 combo. When I got my invoice, I used the IMEI number and tried to activate it on a Verizon unlimited prepaid plan. They said they couldn't activate that modem. Should I simply activate a phone I'm not using and use that SIM card, or do I need to order the MC7455 instead?

There are a lot of people using phone SIM card plans with both MC7455 and EM7565 modems. Another option to consider are tablet plans (which may be cheaper).

Still others are purchasing a used Verizon Pantec USB modem (ULM290VW-G) from eBay ($7 to $10) and using the IMEI off the Pantec to activate a data only plan.

Sure there are other options as well.

Thank you, Jim. As long as there are no performance differences, I'll just activate my old phone IMEI. Verizon's tablet plans are outrageously expensive and have tiny data caps. Can you believe $50 for 8Gigs of data? And that's their big-data plan! There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their pricing, but the agent told me there was no throttling with the prepaid unlimited for $65 ($70 without an autopay discount).

There are also members successfully using unlimited Visible plans if Verizon works well in your area. May use the search function for more information.
