what works?

Post by gametec »

Hello I am new to this And need some advice on where to go from here.
I bought a wg3526 router and em7565 modem and get good signal from
most all carriers. I have tried to use 2 different phone sims Sprint and verizon.
but neither will connect to provider both show sim info and signal is good but will not connect.
I have went through the tutorials and flashed wifix to the router and tried all settings I have found.

I would prefer to use the extra sprint device sim that I have but If I need to buy another data service
can someone tell me what works the best. And can I use a phone plan sim or need buy data hotspot plan etc? Im just trying to figure out whats best way to get internet for
the house because satellite is only option we have.

Thanks for any Help!

Can you go to the debug log and post it, is it showing registration errors? Do the sim cards work in phones ok, I would put them in a phone and let them register properly on the network again. Do you have hotspot plan activated/upgraded on these?

If the phone number comes up on the SIM info, then the network is seeing your SIM and telling your modem its phone number. If you are not getting a data connection then the network is denying service. If you look in your System Log, in the status menu, near the bottom you will see messages that say something like "call failed" or "denied" etc under messages that start with a system type alert with the word 'mbim' or 'qmi' in the same line.

This usually means you are not using the right combination of APN, modem firmware, and modem protocol. Sometimes it means the system sees your modem IMEI and is denying service because your SIM is not registered to that IMEI.

Thanks for replies
They are post pay sims i tried and they work correctly in the phones. I think its denying service because the SIM is not registered to to imei of modem but to the ones of the phones they were in.

I was hoping to use it because its an extra phone not using. However I think I will have to purchase a new sim.
Any recommended that will work with this setup.

Tks

If you have good T-Mobile coverage they are easier to get going in my opinion.
If you don't care about ping or video throttling visible could be a cheaper choice.

Make sure the APN is correct. It should be r.ispsn or n.ispsn.
x.ispsn is ipv6 only and has been hard to get working properly.

Ask them what APN the SIM is registered to use.

No TTL mods either, as it is a true hotspot plan.
