Did my EM7565 Modem die?

Post by claytonduncan »

I recently purchased a WE826GO-U Router with an EM7565 Modem. I was trying to get it up and connected. The modem seemed to connect fine to the router. I was struggling with getting a working SIM with Verizon. Then suddenly it stopped taking AT command and now the router cannot connect with the modem.

Did the modem die? It is new, could it be defective?

How do I properly trouble shoot this?

Usually if you lost the modem. First thing to do is re-flash the router firmware. I recommend doing it 3 times in a row without setting a single setting between. Most firmware links can be found on this forum via search.

Remove your SIM before you do.

Do not reinsert the SIM until you get your modem back up and recognized.

Most likely you changed USB protocols (MBIM, QMI, etc) to ECM or RNDIS and lost your AT command port, or AT and Data ports.

If you still don't get your modem back because of the above, you'll need to get a usb to M.2 key B adapter and re-flash the firmware from your pc.

You gotta get the drivers from Sierra Wireless. (Have to create/register an account first) The firmware is on the site as well, I would get all carrier versions; most Sierra modems hold 5 firmwares (Verizon, Sprint, ATT, and especially Generic.. Once you install the drivers on your computer, reboot the pc. Then plug in the usb adapter with the modem installed into it. Leave it for like 5-10mins. Once you're certain its done loading the modem drivers and recognizing it, simply run the firmware executable from Sierra. Make sure you install the last firmware you run two times. Again: Run the same firmware install TWICE the last time.

You should be back up. If not let us know.
