NEXP1GO/WG3526-P Intermittent disconnects

Post by LTEFix0404 »

Anyone else have this issue or know what could be the problem?

Several times each day, my NEXP1GO/WG3526-P will randomly go out for usually about 5–10 minutes (sometimes much longer), then it will usually come back online on its own after some time. The router is powered by a Unifi POE switch, and sometimes when the issue is occuring I'll try power cycling the router by unplugging the end of the ethernet cable that's plugged into the POE switch, but that doesn't always seem to help. Usually I just wait for it to randomly come back online. Before this started happening, everything had been running stable for well over a year.

When the router goes down, the system still seems to be logging events because there's activity in the system log once I log back in. Below is what is recorded in the system log when this happens. This code repeats over and over and over again until the router comes back online.

Code: Select all

Those all look like normal-ish logs. Are you certain your switch has ample power budget per port? Sometimes the advertised poe budget is misleading, as it shows total power budget, but then hides the per port max wattage.

Those all look like they are on the lan side and have nothing to do with the 'internet' connection. Try new lan cable or check all connectors/adapters between router and pc/switch? Usually when i've seen this on lan side I had water in a connector. Could be too long of a run of cable and dropping out too.

Our NEXP1GO drops once per day...or sometimes once every two days. I have the scheduled reboot set for 3:45AM every morning, but the disconnect usually happens into the night after/around 10:30PM. I have specific bands selected (2,4,5,13,66) and additionally have the Cell Lock to B66. My suspicion is that B66 is either being reset somehow on the tower, or my setup is losing the connection long enough to cause an issue...or something is going haywire with the Torguard/Wireguard VPN. The indicator for me (haven't immersed myself in the logs) is that there is no external IP. The band info will still show connected to B66, signal and other factors still good. I do not have to do a full reboot of the router for the connection to come back...I can do a modem reset and it is all happy. In fact, I have the automated ping test set to do a modem reset if 2 ping requests fail to 8.8.8.8...set this to every 5 minutes.
