Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
How are you determining there is no internet?
I ask because recently we had a posting in here saying the same thing and it turned out that he did have internet but it was being throttled so badly that nothing would load. He determined this by putting the sim back in his phone and somehow tested and found like a 512k connection Could this be the case with your setup as well? Maybe visible is misbehaving again?
Or perhaps your vpn is causing issues?

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Getting the same from Visible and ATT sims. VPN is off. Sometimes it will go to Gmail and Facebook but no where else. I think it could very well be antenna, trees, etc. For the first time I got 20mhz up and down at the same tower? Still have trouble connecting to the router.
Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
This is just my PERSONAL recommendation based SOLELY on my own expierences but
When I loaded the latest firmware version I had signal issues. Now that could have been a ton of different things but when I went back to my old version all the issues went away and things got rock solid stable again.
With all the issues your having I would say trying the older firmware I use would well be worth the time and effort.
Just to be clear I am proposing that you reset your router to the chinese menus... yes I remember you were not able to previously... its all a matter of timing.... keep trying you will get it,,,,,
Then load the firmware image dated 5-16-2020
Manually re-add in your settings DO NOT USE A RESTORE
Post back if this makes a difference

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Really seems odd that I can only use Gmail and Facebook. They work normally but I can't go to any other link or website. Can't even access the router. How can I do this full reset if I can't bring up the router on my computer?
Maybe I can after the reset? Can I bring the router inside and do this reset on my laptop with no antennas hooked up?
Do I reset with modem and sim card in place?

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
I cant explain it either, and apparently no one else wants to chime in. I am betting most would say to reflash the firmware, many would say 3 times . I am recommending the full factory reset as that eliminates all previous remnants of goldenorb/wifix.
That said the one issue with flashing the version I am recommending is that it does NOT support wireguard, but for now lets just see what it gets us. You can always reflash the version your on if the older version does not seem to benefit you.
The full reset is done by holding in the small reset button, pulling the power while STILL holding in the button and then powering it back up while STILL holding the button. You should hold it after power on for like a full 10 seconds.
After all that you should be able to access the router via ethernet cable. I BELIEVE the default is 192.168.1.1
You will see an all chinese screen you click the large button in the middle, I think its actually the only button and that will allow you to select your file to flash. After selecting the fiule there is only a single button you can click thats basically the apply or go button. let it flash until its done then setup your router like you did the first time you go it.
Since this method uses ethernet you will not need any antennas just the unit (modem still inside) and the power cable and maybe a ballpoint pen to press the reset button with.
If my directions are not clear or for some reason dont work google wg3526 factory reset chinese screen and it should give you directions with pictures,

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Send a message to The Wireless Haven tech support then, maybe the reset doesnt go to chinese on their units but I thought it did.
Aftert you do the process and you get the wifix login.... does your unit reset to defaults or does it "remember" all your settings? It sounds like its NOT factory resetting, meaning all your settimgs would still be there.
You can also read through the post a little ways down in this thread from BillA

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
I really don't know what I did but it is SO much better. Took all this crap to work, along with my laptop. Signal strength is 95 to 100 percent there. Tried to get to Chinese letters with no luck. The Wireless Haven says no Chinese stuff on the newer routers. Never was able to flash firmware but I deleted setup stuff. After changing the APN and TTL to 65. all was pretty good. Then changed TTL to 117 and it really picked things up. Brought it home, hooked it up and it works. Only 9-10 Down but that is pretty common this time of day. Now i got 20Down. Damn good for me.
This is on Visible sim. What do I need to change besides the APN to use my ATT data sim?

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Well, that lasted about 30 minutes. No internet. Back on Hughesnet. However, I can access the router and it shows a 70% signal strength and the other numbers look good, but no internet connection.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
ATT just uses the broadband APN for now, no TTL is needed, but is recommended.
The NEXR5GO has a firmware recovery, but it just not in Chinese, they had it redone in english. Same function though.
I think you have to hold the reset button, plug in power, and then count the number of times the LEDs pulse (5 pulses I think) then release the reset button. The other routers like it you simply count to 10 or 12 and let go. The NEXR5 isn't like that.
I THINK that the earlier models of the NEXR5GO (V1) do not have a recovery mode though. You know you have an early model if it does not have a QR code on the bottom and it supports 48V POE. The new version is 24V POE and has a QR code on the bottom that takes you to a page with the manuals that are available.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Nope. Just needs to be able to set the lan interface to 192.168.1.x as the firmware recovery doesn't usually hand out IPs.

I missed this post somehow. Did this and connection is good. Will try this for now.Adm1jtg wrote: Wed Oct 13, 2021 12:21 pm from a different thread but they had simular issues
Have you tried resetting the modem?
Should be AT+QPRTPARA=3 then after it reboots AT+QPRTPARA=1
Will hold off on reflash.

OK, I have just about decided that something has to be wrong with this router. It works fine for a few hours then loses connection. Then I can't even access the router from my computer. Getting sick and tired of continuous problems. Just about to give up.

The webUI becomes unresponsive?
Are you connecting via ethernet or wifi, normally?
Are you using any other routers in the house at the same time?

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
TTL isn't something anyone used before on ATT but I'm not sure it's a bad thing. SOME have said using TTL mods messed up their connection on ATT. I don't know for sure. Get a phone and run a ping off it and see what the TTL is off the ping.
Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Very happy with AT&T so far. Even at peak hours 35-50Dn and 15-20Up CSQ 24-29 SINR 8-16 Stays on a tower that is probably not in heavy use.
Visible was great early AM but peak sucked.
Thanks to you guys for getting me going.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Hmm. If it comes back on it's own, that may or may not be a harder issue to troubleshoot. If it comes back after a reboot, that's usually ATT making the connection "stale" forcing you to refresh the link. There are faster ways to do it, but I'm not up to date on how that's done. Basically the tower sees connections that have been there a while and the ATT management software requires the device to get a new IP lease, basically, and your traffic starts getting blocked until you do get a new lease, reconnect. More or less, in my own words.

Yeah, for now. It's the reason the scheduled reboot is in there. You can also try a page load based connection monitor.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Sounds like good ole ATT at it again. Not uncommon of an issue in the last few years. Annoying. Verizon has done it too. I've not heard of tmo/Sprint doing it though.
Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Even that is still better than putting up with Hughesnet continuous 700-900 latency.Didneywhorl wrote: Mon Nov 01, 2021 11:51 am Sounds like good ole ATT at it again. Not uncommon of an issue in the last few years. Annoying. Verizon has done it too. I've not heard of tmo/Sprint doing it though.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
There used to be something called connection monitor in the routers firmware. It would poll the internet connection every x number of minutes and if it didnt get a reply would reset the connection. Not sure if this is still in newer versions but on mine its under connection profile and on a tab called connection monitor.

Newer version of connection monitor that allows you to test with an html webpage load test instead of a ping test.
Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
When I lose internet, the router shows that is still connected. If I am streaming when this happens and I restart the system, the TV comes back on but no internet. will not connect to the router but the streaming continues. WTF? Also most of the time when I lose internet, I can connect to AT&T Prepaid website but nothing else. I am completely confused.
Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
Things seem to be better since I pulled the little magical trick. Still drops internet every now and then, but less frequent, on AT&T but a quick power off/on and it starts right back up. Guess I will have to live with that. Tried to get 2nd modem to work in USB enclosure but that never happened. Guess I will have to live with that too.
Looks like I have probably pestered you guys too much already so I will turn in to a read-only lurker.
Thanks, Guys.

Not at all a bother fren. I think there's just fewer of us than we'd like. Time gets scarce sometimes, but I try to get around to help as many as I can
Remind me what happened with the second external modem issue?
Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
I realize y'all need more moderators to help us dummies. I really appreciate what y'all do.
My NEXR5GO/ EPO6-A/ AT&T setup is working fine but needs a restart or 2 daily.
My WE826-T2/ EM-7455/ Visible setup is working fine.
EM-7455 is inside Wifix new style USB Housing with no modem inside WE826.
If I plug this in to the USB on the NEX and move antenna wires nothing happens. Change APN and TTL for Visible, it still doesn't find Modem2.
Is there a setting I need to change on the router to enable the 2nd modem?

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
OK, so far I have tried Visible with good results, AT&T with even better results. Now I want to try T-Mobile. I got T-Mobile's free Test Drive. Virtually no results since there is no way to attach outside antennas. Tried taking the sim out but it is locked to their hotspot. Now I went ahead and ordered one of T-Mobil's prepaid sims so I can really test. When I get it this week, what all do I need to change for APN, TTL, etc.?

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
oh, sorry.
APN - fast.t-mobile.com
TTL for IPV4 AND HL for IPV6 of 65 usually works.
Turn off the modem APN autoload feature:
AT+QMBNCFG="AutoSel",0
and
AT+QMBNCFG="Deactivate"
Usually all I do.
May also want to make sure the SIM detect is right and it reads your SIM card ICCID number.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
HL = Hop Limit. It is TTL for IPV6.
https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2752
If you have custom TTL rules under the Custom Rules tab in Network->Firewall you should have rules for iptables (IPV4) and ip6tables (IPV6).
The newest firmware puts both in the rules if you just click on the enable custom TTL on the next tab over. Older firmware versions did not do both IPV4 and IPV6 rules when enabling the custom TTL rules. All this is under Network->Firewall on tabs across the top of the page.

At my location, it looks like AT&T is good, T-Mobile is good, Visible is OK but the tower seems very congested on evenings.
I would have never been able to get this far without you people. Thanks.

I Changed sim from T-Mobile back to the AT&T sim. The only thing I changed was APN back to "Broadband" and unchecked "Custom TTL Settings" Also re-aimed antenna. Is there anything else I need to change back? Any AT commands to change things back?
AT&T works now and then internet stops every now and then. It will start again if I recycle the power or if I wait long enough.
I sure need to make this connection a little more reliable.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
ATT has a history of this.
If a reboot fixes it, its usually the network. Not always but it has been an issue.
Im not sure how phones get around it, but phones operate differently and are generally mobile.

I don't have any idea how connection monitor works. What does it do? Does it ping the tower?

Well here is the basics of it:

but you really need to talk to someone smarter then me to enable and configure it as when I changed carriers to verizon years ago I no longer needed to use it.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
going from memory i think i used the router reboot option, may have been modem reset, try modem reset first as it takes less time for the router to recover.
I used the google DNS server as the tracking ip
8.8.8.8
I would set ping count to 3 or change interface down to 1
and i think i set ping interval to every 10 minutes. I wouldnt choose anything more frequently then 10 minutes but you could pick longer. You really dont want a shorter time frame for ping interval as it can really flood your connection and can cause all kinds of issues.
Think of it like this.....
The server every 10 minutes sends out a single message ..... google can you hear me... if google answers back nothing happens. If google doesnt answer the router assumes the internet is down and does what you pick in the dropdown, aka reboot or reset modem or whatever.
Kinda a brute force system but it does work. The problem is if you take the default of every 2 seconds your router is asking google can you hear me every 10 seconds. This is excessive and puts out a lot of extra "chatter". You need to find the balance between it being excessive and your potentially being down for x minutes before the router notices.
Again using the 10 minute example if your router asks google are you there and google answers nothing happens. In an absolute worst case scenerio, if your connection just happens to drop 1 second after that you would have 9 min and 59 seconds before the router asks again and realizes there is an issue. Thus you could be without internet for that long unless you manually intervened and rebooted the router yourself.
Does this make sense? Not at all sure i am explaining this as well as some others but hoping you at least get the general idea.

Re: NEXR5GO Router and EP06-A Modem
I guess they haven't decided IPV6 is on their plan just yet.dbshelton wrote: Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:41 pm I have noticed that with the AT&T sim, it doesn't use IPv6. Why is that?
