MOFI 4500 Timed out

Post by scunurse »

I have a MOFI4500 V3 and I use Visible. It was working great for about 2 months. Last week I went into check status and since then it won't work. I've ordered a new SIM card, tried to reboot without success. I now can't even get into the router's management page to do anything, it just takes forever and then says timed out. MOFI site gives no help at all. Could it be corrupt because I think I was using microsoft edge at first until I saw I should not open in that? So frustrating not to find anyone to help with this. Yes I've reset it a million times, connected the ethernet cable, everything I could but still unable to get into my router to do anything else.

Have you tried clearing out your browser cache or using an incognito/private browser tab?

If you're using a clean browser, which can be any browser even the Microsoft browser, and you're certain that you're using the correct IP address to access it, then you might have something going on with the config files that requires reflashing the router firmware fresh.

1. NEED to use FireFox
2 Need to do a hard factory RESET (All Settings will be lost)

Press and hold the reset for 10 seconds, to reset MoFi the Factory Default.
Release the reset will take ~3min to boot, LEDs should do a little dance.

May need to flash unit with NEW firmware. Let the group know if you need more help. :ugeek:

If you can't get it, try to flash the firmware, go to mofi website and download the firmware for V3. Unplug for 60 seconds, keep holding reset button, plug in. Keep holding reset until the Internet globe light, second light, starts blinking slowly.
Go to your PC LAN, change adapter settings, {right click} LAN, properties, IPv4 (or somthing, IPv4) {right click} [highlighted now], properties, all this can be found in the control panel, network and sharing center (you may need to switch control panel to large or small to see), set static IP for:
IP: 192.168.10.7
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.10.1
Plug the LAN from your computer to LAN port 1 on the mofi sim 7 V3.

Open firefox or other browser not chrome or edge, clear cache, type 192.168.10.1
You should see a blue mofi recovery page. Locate your Firmware file for V3 you downloaded easier with the browse button. Should be in your folder that all your downloads goto. Click upload.
You will get a warning in red type to verify your file. Click flash firmware. Should take 5-10 minutes and if all goes well it will reboot, so fast you may not see it.
Go back to your control panel, network and sharing center, change adapter settings, {right click} LAN, properties, IPV4 [highlighted], properties, set back to Auto IP, and Auto DNS, does not take effect until you close it.
Go back to firefox, type 192.168.10.1
Should get the log in screen:
username: root
password: admin

Wala.

Did it work? These are the instructions given to me from mofi. So far it has not worked for me. I needed to order somethings for my PC, should be here today, I will try again tomarrow.

I have a similar problem, see my post, "I have 2 mofi 4500 SIM 7?".

Just learn the WE826-B is the routers I have. They have green LED's which my mofi's have. I have been trying to install the wrong firmware from the get go. Don't know why this info was so hard to find. I found it on OpenWrt. Website:

https://openwrt.org/toh/zbt/we-826

You will need to use the mofi static IP, instead of recommended 192.168.1.22 (mofi defaualt for SIM 7 is 192.168.10.1, set the static IP for:
IP: 192.168.10.7
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.10.1
Still don't understand why the mofi firmware doesn't work.
I am very concerned my mofi is FUBAR'ed, is that a word, or an appropriate use of that acronym?

We'll get you back up, no worries!

The MOFI 4500 is a WE826T2 as far as I know, but it may be a WE826Q. They can not use each others firmware as they have different wifi chips.

What screen shows up at http://192.168.1.1/index.html when you do the firmware recovery, ...hold the reset button, plug in power, release reset button after 10+ seconds?

Show us a screen shot.

May try to remove the modem and just try to get the router to work.

Just want to make sure you are putting in the right ip address after doing openwrt flash. It would change to be different than what Mofi is. Probably 192.168.1.1

I tried both, after restting the IP adapter back to auto. How long does it take to flash, I have been giving it 15 minutes, since I have not seen it reboot.

Don't know why but in the past when had issues loading firmware onto a WE826-T2 this firmware would work. Once had it on there could load what ever firmware I wanted. Always loaded it with the bootloader method that talked about earlier.

Here is the file maybe it will work.
lede-ramips-mt7620-zbt-we826-t-20200814_142235.bin

I tried it again with that file, same thing. I am using the mofi recovery page on 192.168.10.7, and to get there the static IP of 192.168.10.7, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway, 192.168.10.1

Then going back to Auto IP, and Auto DNS.
Then trying 192.168.1.1, then 192.168.10.1

So far nothing. This time the Lan began blinking as if it was transferring data, but stopped. Thanks again, gscheb, was worth a try. The model is B or T, T2 may be to new.

I read it should have firmware imbedded in it, but not sure.

Does this make sense to you? I found it in a google search for manufacturer of router WE826-B firmware.

Does it allow to do the bootloader method? Are you ever choosing the firmware to be added or do you not get that far?

I can choose a file only, the mofi IP only, can't download anything. And the Lan doesn't register without the IP in recovery mode. The SSID is still broadcasting "WiFix" but won't take the password, "12345678", "admin", or blank.

Can you follow the boot loader method exactly? And use the ip address it says and forget about modi ip address.

Did you try not starting with this above? Start out with what the boot loader says to do.

Something new, I tried to flash OpenWRT after leaving it unplugged for a few days, I get the M2m splash screen now on 192.168.1.1 with and without a Static IP. When I click on the router it times out. Any suggestions?
