Which WExxx works on Verizon

Post by prasta »

I ordered a KuwFI WExxx on Amazon on July 5th, opting for the version that explicitly ran on Verizon network.

Today I received the package, opened it up and found a WE826-T2, and proceed to add it to my Verizon account, and I was met with the error, 'This device is not compatible with the Verizon network.'

I went back to the listing(s) on amazon for the device, and cannot find one that states its compatible with the Verizon network, and the only listing on the KuwFI isn't much help either.

Can anyone conclusively tell me which KuwFI WExxx runs on Verizon, specifically LTE bands; 2, 4, 5, 13, 66

You probably guessed it, but I'm a newb getting my feet wet in the wonderful and frustrating world of rural internet connectivity.

Thanks in advance!

The modem inside is the key, and Verizon will not allow most any of them on the network directly. You may be better off using Visible. The modem can be used on Verizon networks, but in a trick hack kind of way. I guarantee you the modem has been certified for their network, but they are just being butts about it.

Hmmm, I just ran the IMEI on the visible site, and they don't like it either " Your current phone doesn’t work with us"

For visible you need to find a device to actuvate the sim in first. I used my old pixel xl phone. Once activated you can then slip that sim into your router and use it without issues. At one point visible even gave you a free phone and you could use that to activate the sim

Interesting. So just so I'm clear on this, I'll activate the SIM using a different IMEI from the one that exists on my WExxx. Once service has been established, pop the sim into the back of the WExxx and hope for the best?

Correct thats what worked for me back when I was on visible. There is also some grey area trickery that can be applied as well in a worst case scenerio but we dont discuss details of those things here.

Also confirm.

Activate the SIM in a phone then when activated and tested as working, swap the sim to your router. Ensure the modem is in MBIM mode and the APN is set to Visible.
