WE826 & MC7455 modem 'deactivating'

Post by Werewoofteetf »

We recently bought a new modem and router from The Wireless Haven and have had nothing but problems from the start (sprint has bad signal out here and we're getting some antenna soon) but recently it's been refusing to connect at all and the system error gives us this:

user.notice MBIM Monitor: Modem 1 Connection is Down (activation state: deactivated)

at which point it may or may not show it's connected to the network but doesn't supply internet access regardless. We've had frequent 'connection is down (no ip address)' errors but I assumed that was from poor signal.

We're using r.ispsn with the additional otasn APN with Sprint through Catalyx as well as band 41. I've recently reset the entire set up from scratch but that only seems to have caused more issues. Currently we're running 2019_01_13 goldenorb.

With modem 'deactivated' but network showing as connect and no internet access.

OK
edit: Appear online when it shouldn't is due to connection monitoring being off, my bad. Also tested using n.ispsn instead which allowed me to get an ipv6 address (I couldn't before) but still didn't solve the constant 'modem deactivated' issue.

You are connected to the network but it has placed the modem in RRC Idle mode.

The quality of your signals look good, but the strength of the signals are at the low side of usable.

For reference:

This is what I would try.

First, I would remove the SIM card and place back in the hotspot and update the user profile/data and any other settings, then place back into the router.

Next, locate the Sprint tower, load the router in a vehicle that has a 110VAC power converter, drive within a half mile or so of the tower, and test the unit at that location where it receives better signals.

This will help eliminate whether poor signals are your issue.
