MC7455 in a Mofi4500 / WE826T *No Signal*

Post by natgear2510 »

I have installed a MC7455 in a Mofi4500 Sim3 (WE826T) router to use on Verizon. I have not had any luck connecting to the internet. I have tried Mofi, WiFiX, & ROOter Firmware. I have done a Factory Resets on each Firmware. I have ran

Code: Select all

at!entercnd="A710"
at!RMARESET=1
at!reset

Code: Select all

at!entercnd="A710"
at!usbcomp=1,1,1009
at!selrat=06
at!custom="IPV6ENABLE",1
at+cgdcont=1,"ipv4v6","vzwinternet"
at!reset
with No luck connecting. Today I received a Usb to mini PCIe + Sim Adapter. I popped the modem in & updated to the latest "Generic" Modem FW. Still No Luck. I Currently put the "Verizon" FW on the Modem and tested. Got a signal, then put it back in the previously configured router & no luck. Any help would be appreciated! Apparently, am not very good at this! I don't know if I am overlooking something but I know my sim card is good because I have 3 different USB Modems that it works in just fine. I am attaching a screen shot of with signal when the Modem was in the USB Module & after i had it back in the router. If you need any other info, just let me know. Please Help, I am out of ideas!!!!

Lol....just plug it in & it will work they said !!!!

My plan of attack would be as follows:
  • Reset Modem to OEM.
  • Flash modem with the latest Generic Firmware.
  • Do not program or issue any other commands to modem
  • Update to the latest GoldenOrb 2019 and using an Ethernet cable. Be sure and UNCHECK the Save Settings Box.
  • When the router firmware has updated, login and go to MODEM > CONNECTION PROFILE > APN and enter the correct APN. Save & Apply.
  • Set your Password, Set the Time Zone
  • Unplug Power, Insert SIM card, and power back on.
  • Given a minute or two if it is not connected, run the following command from the MODEM > MISC > AT-COMMAND TERMINAL and post the results:

Code: Select all

Thank you!!!! Finally some success!!! It actually connected, just for a moment then lost it. here are the results. What next?

For one, your signal stats are well below acceptable levels. Refer to the chart below.

May try relocating the router to a different area.

Problem is NOT solved. I am back to the issue of no Signal or Cell Information. It sees my sim card but I can't get
any SIGNAL readings. I have since reflashed the modem & router in an attempt to get the information back but no luck. I also have the USB to Mini PCIE adapter and checking for signal there also.

Code: Select all

Send:AT!GSTATUS?

Recieve: AT!GSTATUS?
Recieve: !GSTATUS:
Recieve: Current Time: 97 Temperature: 28
Recieve: Reset Counter: 1 Mode: ONLINE
Recieve: System mode: WCDMA PS state: Not attached
Recieve: WCDMA band: WCDMA 1900
Recieve: WCDMA channel: 487
Recieve: MM (CS) state: IDLE LIMITED SERVICE
Recieve: WCDMA L1 state:L1M_PCH_SLEEP LAC: 63A7 (25511)
Recieve: RRC state: DISCONNECTED UTRAN Cell ID: 06E1AD13 (115453203)
Recieve: RxM RSSI C0: -102 RxD RSSI C0: ---
Recieve: RxM RSSI C1: --- RxD RSSI C1: ---
Recieve: OK
How do I switch the System Mode from WDCMA to LTE. Does anyone know the command for that or is that supposed to pickup automatically off of the sim card?

This will program the modem to get LTE only though I do not believe that is the issue:

Code: Select all

at!entercnd="A710"
at!selrat=06
at!reset
Also, have you tried going to NETWORK > FIREWALL > CUSTOM TTL and enable with 65 or 64?

I've seen this behavior before when your signal is too weak. Your signal stats for Band 13 look really weak, and that is a very low frequency, so its likely falling back to WCDMA due to that.

Can you take your modem setup outside, and see if you have any more success connecting/staying connected?

Gotta ask, are you sure your antenna connections to the modem are good?

Finally got it working on Verizon! Rooter + Generic Firmware as recommended above!

When I ran

Code: Select all

at!usbcomp=?
Received: usbcomp=1,1,10F
so these were the commands that i entered & it finally connected!

Code: Select all

at!entercnd="A710"
at!usbcomp=1,1,1009
at!selrat=06
at!reset
I also relocated the router to the upstairs to a front window pointing directly at the line of sight tower ~4 miles away. Now to improve my antenna's! All i have is the small rubber antennas that come with the modem.

Code: Select all

at!gstatus?
!GSTATUS:
Current Time: 4441 Temperature: 43
Reset Counter: 1 Mode: ONLINE
System mode: LTE PS state: Attached
LTE band: B13 LTE bw: 10 MHz
LTE Rx chan: 5230 LTE Tx chan: 23230
LTE CA state: NOT ASSIGNED
EMM state: Registered Normal Service
RRC state: RRC Connected
IMS reg state: No Srv

PCC RxM RSSI: -53 RSRP (dBm): -82
PCC RxD RSSI: -99 RSRP (dBm): -140

Notice the difference in your MAIN and AUX (or Diversity) Antenna stats:

Code: Select all

PCC RxM RSSI: -53 RSRP (dBm): -82
PCC RxD RSSI: -99 RSRP (dBm): -140
The RXM represents the MAIN antenna port on the modem which extends thru the U.FL connector and pigtail to the 4G LTE antenna.

The RxD represents the AUX antenna port on the modem.....

I would check to make sure the U.FL connectors are properly seated on the AUX modem ports (and not the GPS) and that is is not grounding out against the metal portion of the modem edge.

What Jim said, without that second antenna, you'll be losing roughly half of your throughput.

Otherwise, your signal stats look really good!
