We826 only allows connections to Google
So I'm having a strange issue were my modem is connected to a strong signal but all devices can only get to Google sites. When this happens on some devices they talk about disabling ipv6 I thought it was ipv6 where they have you disable it on your device to fix the issue, this is happening on Macs ,iphones, android and pcs connected to this router, restarting the modem doesn't fix it, the only fix is to restart the router completely and it starts working again. I kept thinking it was a dns issue but now I'm scratching my head. I have

Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
Are using WiFi on this we826?
If so set DNS for it.

Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
actually i see it on both wired and wireless connections.
Im not quite understanding where to set a DNS on the router for wifi.
I have tried setting them to 8.8.8.8 on my pc and made no difference.
i will read the thread further but not sure it fits my router.

This sounds like a DNS issue.
Can you ping straight ip addresses?
What service and plan are you using?
$5 says its ATT

Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
Are you me!? This literally started happening like 4 days ago. (WG3526) Yes I'm on ATT, and I've changed my DNS settings and it still randomly happens. Anyone got an idea of what it might be?
Doing an AT!Reset get's everything running again. It's been fine for literally years, and now it's doing this. The weird thing is, it'll stay connected to certain things (VPN) downloads/Teams Calls/etc. But I'm assuming this is because it's got the connection already and no longer needing DNS.

It's not a DNS issue. It's ATT black-holing your traffic with their transparent proxy. There's a big thread here (it sounds like IPV6 bypasses the proxy but I can't figure out how to force IPv6 with my EM7565/already tried a few commands).

Time to figure out IPv6....I'm on MC7455
Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
Try this below.serverside wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:18 am Well....this is bad.

at!entercnd="A710"
at+cgdcont=1,"ipv6","broadband"
at!reset
After doing this might have to power cycle your device. MC7455 usually likes to be power cycled after changes.
Just did this for T-Mobile. For some reason without ipv6 only now on T-Mobile your ping goes really high.
Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
I tried those commands yesterday. After the reset it didn't reconnect. I did a power cycle and the settings didn't stick. It was back to ipv4v6 and connected giving me an IPV4 address.

Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
Yeah looks like this isn't going to work with us with ATT.
Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
This doesn't seem limited to using AT&T as a home Internet service as I've changed my EM7565 IMEI to that of my iPad (I own both) and I'm still getting black-holed every 4ish hours. The options as I see them are
1) Setup a VPN on the router (will kill my bandwidth)
2) Switch to a local internet company that uses its own wireless antennas (expensive)
3) Figure out if the WE826 can do connection monitoring (not ping) and reboot the modem.

Re: We826 only allows connections to Google
The plan isn't the issue. It's effecting even people with just cell phone plans.

Yea, I've tried PIA = Kills bandwidth and Open VPN (I own this already to get around cnat issue for port forwarding), both issues with lack of bandwidth.corywf wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 10:04 am This doesn't seem limited to using AT&T as a home Internet service as I've changed my EM7565 IMEI to that of my iPad (I own both) and I'm still getting black-holed every 4ish hours. Just happened again - 3 1/2 hours after an AT!Reset.
Option 3 is what I'm hoping to figure out as well, as your correct, we cannot ping google.com which would tell the modem to do a reconnect when it's down....and hitting IPs don't work.
Wondering why changing DNS service doesn't fix the issue :/ Considering direct IP connections still work.

EDIT:
Anyone know how to force IPV6 to the MC7455 with ATT?
At!custom="IPV6ENABLE",1 doesn't work.

We will, I'd watch this thread as well.

Just an update, I've noticed with PIA, utilizing the application, my bandwidth stays 100+mbs down and 30-50mbs up, this is for a single machine using the windows app. If I use the OpenVPN settings for the Goldenorb(LEDE/ROOTer) then it's complete crap (like 10mbs down MAX, and like 10-20kbs up) anyone have an idea why it's like this?
