wg1608 with RM520N-GLAP possible?

Post by MrEdLu »

I purchased an RM520N-GL(AP) variant before I knew the difference between AA and AP.
  • RM520N-GLAA supports USB and PCIe.
  • RM520N-GLAP supports only PCIe.
When I plugged it into my WG1608, nothing happened. It doesn't detect the board. Is there any way to get RM520N-GLAP working in my WG1608 16m? I'll assume that I need some PCIe driver. Has anyone gone down this rabbit hole?

No, wg1608's m.2 slot is USB only. I went as far as installing openwrt on WG1608 and running the lspci command. Wg1608 does not see the RM520N-GLAP. Dead end here.

Having this RM520N-GLAP that I can't return, I tried ordering a desktop PCIe to m2 card and loading Ubuntu on my PC. It sees the PCI modem but I get this error during ubuntu boot up

Code: Select all

[13.349183] mhi mhiO: Device failed to enter MHI Ready
[13.349213] mhi mhi0: MHI did not enter READY state
[13.349315] mhi-pci-generic 0000:07:00.0: failed to power up MHI controller.
Once booted up, running a lspci shows

Code: Select all

I have also looked for Windows PCI drivers and couldn't find one. I can't seem to get any further with my RM520N-GLAP. I would appreciate any chime in on getting this working any way possible.

BTW, The PCIe to m2 desktop card that I order is "M.2 B Key USB3.0 & PCIe Dual Bus Interface 5G WWAN Card Adapter Support 3042/3052 m2 3G/4G/5G Module for NANO SIM Card" https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805348610910.html
