LT500 wireless backhaul optimization

Post by NathaliaBerm »

I'm using the WISP feature in the LT500 to create a wireless bridge.

So the LT500 picks up my 5ghz wifi from the house, and then creates a wired network in the garage.

I don't really need to LT500 to create wifi in the garage. The only devices I have there are hard wired.

Can I improve the "backhaul" by turning off the wifi on the LT500? Should I just turn off the 5ghz? If I can leave the 2.4ghz wifi on just in case I need to use it to admin the box, that is nice, but if turning that off too helps the backhaul speeds, I will do so.

Seems easy enough to test.

As a general rule I disable services that are not needed.

Yeah, my skills are somewhat limited when it comes to testing that. I though about look at ping times but that probably doesn't create enough load to show the difference. And with things like fully loaded speed tests, that is going to be subject to the wide variability of my LAN in a way that is difficult to differentiate over a short test.
