MTU

Post by dradiscontact »

Morning,

I have a MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-V2. The MTU value on the general network page is set to 1400 out of box, however the MTU and MSS are set to automatic on the internal modem page, as depicted in the first attachment.

My question is why 1400? I'm using T-Mobile, wondering if there are specific tweaks to ensuring optimal connectivity? I see there is a clamp option on the general network page, but I'm unable to find any documentation on it. My wireless modem connected to the Mofi is auto MTU.

Thanks for any insight, this board has a ton of great info.

Mobile data networks sometimes use a slightly different MTU value than cable/dsl providers.
To find the optimum MTU for your particular carrier you can try this tutorial.
https://hide.me/en/knowledgebase/how-to ... tu-values/
First set the MTU to the maximum 1500 on the router then run the test commands.
Once you find the optimum value then change it in the router, and run the packet loss test again just to make sure it works properly.
