Help selecting a router

Post by ana.ray »

Hello,
I would like help selecting a good router / modem combo that is inexpensive, not carrier restricted and possibly upgradable. I currently have a Mobile Citizen Sprint Sim in a R910. I might change carriers to Verizon. I have my devices that will be connected via wifi. The setups I was considering are:

CBA850lp6
Mbr1400lpe v2
Wg3526 with Quectel Em06
We826-Go with Quectel Em06

Any other suggestions? I am trying to create a setup where I don't have to buy additional equipment at this time.

Thanks

Here's all you need to get started.

Mobile data service

Mobile router/modem

Antennas
At first you can try your service with the "stubby" antennas which comes with the router, and if you'd like to improve your signal/speed, you may want to get a pair of high gain external antennas.

Bill,
Thanks for the links. I was wondering if you had an suggestions for a setup that doesn't require me to have to tinker with the hardware? I'm afraid of possibly damaging the router or modem which probably won't be covered under warranty.

Thanks

You could ask JimHelms at The Wireless Haven store to put it all together for you for a small fee, flash it, and even configure the proper APN and TTL for the particular mobile data service you have chosen from the list. Once you receive it, all you have to do is insert the active sim card, power it on, and should be good to go.
