I am using a EM20 in a WG1608. I runs great with 5x CA and download speeds on 120-150. The temp varies between 50-55C.
I have a computer connected via Lan port and this works fine when I download and stress the modem with downloads etc.
As soon as I turn on NordVPN (open VPN protocol) on the computer, the modem temp shoots up to over 65C and the modem shuts down needing to be rebooted.
I am NOT using the openvpn protocol via Openwrt… I would rather it be done on the computer side so it’s less stress on the modem wrt heat etc…
Am I missing a setting or something else to get this to work?

Re: VPN causing overhesting
by any chance, is the VPN connection using the UDP protocol, vs the TCP protocol? i have a sneaking suspicion that if you switched to TCP, the thermal stress would go away.
