LMR200 Cable damage

Post by SteveFJones »

I bought the LMR200 cable that had two cables connected together along their length. When trying to separate the two cables, like you would with speaker wire, by just pulling them apart, the sheathing tore and now metal is exposed. What's the best way to fix this? Why aren't the cables separated enough to connect to the antenna that's in the same order?

The cables are made for various setups and seem to hold up best when given little spread off the ends.

The only way to properly separate them is to carefully cut them with a sharp knife while sloooowly pulling apart.

I've done EXACTLY what you did, multiple times.

I can be a slow learner ;)

Heat Shrink tubing with the glue inside that activates when heated is best.

Self fusing silicone tape works really well too.

Nothing a little electrical tape can't fix right, LOL. That or if you have it handy the self fusing tape would be optimal. Ultimately not that big of a deal I wouldn't think.
