Hey all,
Just wanted to share some insight into the last week of work on my new setup. Purchased a EM7565 and WG1608 from The Wireless Haven in hopes of setting up on Verizon unlimited plan and replacing my Mofi4500v4 router. Was hoping to get a little better speeds on the new router (both modem and gig LAN).
Setup:
You can check out the WG3526 tutorials for most stuff, as they are pretty similar to the 1608. Router was good quality, but on of the pigtails on the end was super short, not sure how you would realistically use it, but i didn't need it for my build anyway.
Most of my pains came from Verizon... i tried several working data sim cards and it would never attach. It would constantly degregister the sim. I finally (totally by accident) got it working. I reset the router, and popped the sim in without setting the APN or TTL settings beforehand. The sim registered and attached fine, then i set APN and TTL and restarted the router and the setting stuck, and the Attach/Registration stuck. I just wouldn't work in the order most of the posts specified.
Currently i have the router down in the basement replacing the mofi4500. So 2 yagi's + 40' of RG6 + Wilson IoT amplifiers + router. I just wanted an apples to apples comparison. My speeds are up about 10mb on download and down about 10 on upload. I have the Mofi4500 locked on B2 and get about 40/25, and now get about 60/8 with 3x CA (and now getting B66).
My plan is to move the router into the attic with about 5' of cable between yagi's and modem. Remove the boosters and re-aim my yagis. THey don't point directly at the tower with B66, and i think i can get way betters speeds when i get that done.
Hopefully this helps someone else, i just wanted to post before I got sidetracked and forgot. Good luck!

Which specific plan are you using from Verizon for that SIM?zac2424 wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 10:07 am Hey all,

Also, I was able to get the modem to lock on B66 (20mhz) / B2 (15mhz) / B66 (mhz) finally using the excel spreadsheet and I am not getting on average around 75/25 for down/upload speeds. In the mornings the download is closer to 100mb down. Really happy with these speeds and will probably leave things setup they way they are, as the router is much move conveniently located in my server rack in the basement.
I am curious as to whether going to 4x4 modem and installing a 4x4 antenna would help any. When I'm uploading large files the whole network gets pretty laggy.

I don't think it would hurt. You would be adding more pathways for a more robust connection.

Sounds like you made some good improvements. Just wanted to say to be careful of attic heat. Last winter moved mine to attic and it worked great. Then when summer hit started to over heat up there in the attic. The attic itself was getting up to 130 to 140 degrees.

Yeah that's what I was concerned with. It gets near 100F in summer outside here, so probably similar to you in the attic. Might move it to my office on 2nd floor which probably gives me around 12' of cable from modem to router, instead of 40'gscheb wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:51 pm Hello,

At parents house got it down to 10 Feet with plenty of slack by having a high shelf in that room on the 2nd floor.zac2424 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:20 pm Yeah that's what I was concerned with.
