AT&T tablet plan for 4G, can just move the SIM to a new 5G

I am in a fringe area and my 4G two year old tablet plan is having some issues with performance. I have learned that 5G is available in my area for some people so I was wondering if I can just pop the SIM card into my new equipment without having to make an appointment with the store to change ...

Re: EM7511 band lock.

I would be interested on this as well. Just received my 7511 a couple of weeks ago and finally got around the other day to firing it up but only briefly to see if I needed to return or not before the window closed. I'd like to find more about it. Bad news that it gets hotter, however.

Re: Configuring GoldenOrb with Sierra Wireless Modem

Hi, is the 7511 required to use the same notes above as seen for the 7565? I have decided to try the 7511 for a travel modem for a while since it still has a full suite of 3G bands still supported (for lower tech countries) but all the 7565 + B14 from what I have read (likely also you :-) so will ...

Those guys drive me nuts. What someone can read in 2 minutes they take 13 to explain. But the youtubers don't get paid with less than 10 minutes of content so we are doomed for life to have to listen to the whole thing .... oh well.... could be worse.

Re: 5 year RV nomad looking for better mobile solutions.

@aphazia I was going to say to try one of the home Internet cell services. That is what most Baja full-timers have gone to using Telcel home Internet. You'll get to stop the cat and mouse games with all the phone and hotspot trickery and the loss of service from doing such.

@mcol2512 I am running ...

Re: Best modem for multiple country 4G and legacy GSM-based 3G support

Well it looks like still a hodge-podge pool of support for the traveler and it may be a contention between the EG12-G and the EM7455 in the backpack, plus add a few specific modems if you demand "above normal" speed .... There still seems to be no such thing as a true universal modem and there may ...

Best modem for multiple country 4G and legacy GSM-based 3G support

I like the quectel modem line since I know most how to manage via AT commands but I am looking for what would have the widest selection of 4G bands suitable for a long trip through various countries and thus the device would still have 3G GSM-style legacy support. I am not sure if any 5G modems have ...

Re: Hi anyone have some experience

Not meant to be a wise-ass remark but genuinely curious why with open space available, everyone without question seems to crowd antennas so closely? It seems for ultimate diversity one might split at least the 4 over two seperate router boxes and two seperate poles. Also wonder why everyone always ...

Re: All carriers LTE device

I would make a matrix chart of all the bands each carrier uses and then find a phone that covers at least one of each band. And the location may be band dependent too so watch out for that. Sometimes older iPhones are good because traditionally owners of them have high turnover, always having to ...

Re: OPENVPN forward on a NEXQ6GO

I am interested in this. Is the free account capable of occasionally linking into to a remote LTE network to run (e.g.) RealVNC on a LTE attached Windows desktop, like OpenVPN provides? If the answer is yes, using RPi3 with GO as my main router, can it be added to the Pi3 or should I upgrade to a Pi ...

Re: Parabolic Feed Horn No Grid?

I don't know how tall that mesh reflector is but if it's about 18" higher or less, chances are it is a 5Ghz directional and came from a wi-fi distributor. I'm not sure where they are using such HF bands for cell service (but I don't keep up with the new 5G bands yet that much.) Keep in mind though ...

Is EM12 good choice for international travel

I will be traveling through US, MX & Latin America plus short visits to EU and Australia, is the EM12 a good overall choice and are there any "gotchas" using a m.2 to usb case running on a cheap Golden Orb travel router? I see there are two style cases sold, USB 2/3 and it appears the modem supports ...

Re: Getting "Cannot connect to data network" error on AT&T router

RESOLVED:
The problem was actually with Consumer Cellular who is a MVNO of AT&T. I had been using the very same router, the same Rooter firmware, the same modem and the same SIM card since 2015 (last upgraded firmware of router in 2017). Everything stopped working on 2021, April. The strange thing ...

Regarding the Rooter gang, I have asked those guys repeatedly why they won't covert from that old Linux mailing list stile to a modern BBB like here and the best reason they could offer was "this one is comfortable".
