So I have SIMs for both Mobile Citizen and AT&T Postpaid tablet.

WG1608 firmware update failing.
Hello all, been a while.
I've tried recently to upgrade the FW on my 1608 to no avail. Both the wifix version and the base Goldenorb versions do not work. I forget the error exactly but it basically suggests there's no compatible file when I try to load the .bin

Hey buddy - I posted this thread to the FB to try to get some extra input. Maybe we can do another remote session this week and I can try to help some more. Seems odd nothings working EXCEPT the fact that the modem is still communicating on the network just not locally responding to commands.

Very late to the game, but glad you figured out the IMEI was incorrect. Using old device IMEIs can lead to not being provisioned for all LTE bands.
Also - AT&T is undergoing a bit of network changes in some rural areas. My tower (it's actually owned by Sprint, not T-Mo) leases space to Verizon and ...

As much as I like the idea of Starlink, I'm thinking about dumping some cash into a better LTE setup. My concern is the lifespan of a nice LTE setup vs 5G proofing? Do I dare drop $300 on a EM160 if it's not going to be worth a dime in 4 years?

There's likely going to be a moderately long period of network instability. Just my guess.

When I had my Magic Box with Sprint, B25 would give me 70+mbps, not sure what level of CA is happening there, but hopefully I can get something like that going if a sim swap works.

The main thing about this is they never show the power output. It takes 1100 watts continuous to heat food, a modem in your phone probably uses less than 10 watts intermittently.

Re: Unusual signal quality issues... Help!
As I stated earlier on, it is not unusual for carrier to realign sector antennas.
Only reason I don't believe this is happening is because the tower is on the north side of town, and all the people are south, including me. If they point it north it might cover 100 people tops, west there's ...

Re: Unusual signal quality issues... Help!
Small note - I've ordered two panel antennas, hoping that maybe if I reduce my range, I'll grab the closer antennas again. Also ordered a single mimo panel to test. Amazon orders - I know i know, but free returns for troubleshooting is priceless.

Re: Unusual signal quality issues... Help!
Another update - called AT&T and sat for 30 minutes while the person played liaison with whoever CAN actually check towers... Supposedly there's nothing wrong with my tower.
This I really don't understand. How can I go from picking up this tower just fine for many months, and many months before ...

I don't know of any off the top of my head, you'd probably want to e-mail or call The Wireless Haven and ask, or any other place that sells modems.

Re: Unusual signal quality issues... Help!
Modem has been connected in that direction for a day, still connecting to the more distant tower. I've got other projects that demand my time for now, but I'll try to come back and do an update whenever possible. Might get a single mimo panel antenna. Maybe the yagis are overshooting the tower ...

I think I'm going to have to get a prepaid ATT card and pop it in my old Galaxy S7 and drive around and see what the towers actual IDs are.

Okay. So... I moved it to my house. Now the speed is better BUT not like it was. I noticed that somehow I'm connected to a tower like 15 miles away. Why won't it connect to the local tower?

Small update. Replacing PSU had little to no change. Going to move the install to a new location. If this doesn't work I'll consider using it for target practice lol

Re: Great DL, Terrible UL - any ideas on a better antenna setup?
Be careful on your choice of antenna. You need to know which bands you have available to you before you purchase one. That above linked Parabolic looks like it lacks low end bands, which are more likely what you're getting at that range.

Re: New here, need hotspot, or truly unlimited data help
OP - do you know any of your neighbors who have wired internet? It would be a lot cheaper for you to set up a local wireless configuration from someone else's house and beam it to yours if it's on the same street. Plus you'd have real unlimited with no risk of losing it. Hardware probably only runs ...

Well moving the PSU to the battery backup provided zero change.
Going to order a new PSU and then look at some 40ft masts.

Only thing about that is, it was working fine for north of 6 months after the last modem got fried. I could replace the PSU but seems unnecessary.

Most cases I think people fudge the IMEI with a tablet or activate it in a cheap phone and hotswap the SIM.

T-mobile network users - Question for you!
Do your devices (hotspots/modems) now connect to Sprint bands as well? I live in an area where Tmo is lacking severely but Sprint has always been strong. Curious is Tmo is now using Sprint simultaneously and seamlessly or not.
