In general what type of SIM do I choose? {solved}

Post by Factor »

All:
Might be a loaded question. I have read some other posts https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=15 ... +sim#p5219 but dont seem to have a real feel for what type of sim/plan is usable.
So let see if give a bunch of info and see what you all think.

I no particular order
The need for internet (wan) will be based on availability eg ethernet wire connection will use that, wifi available will use that, and all other not available use LTE.
The connection points for all WAN choices will be all over the USA. Home base in Tennessee (not to relevant have Fiber connection at home :D )
Cellular speeds not super important something like a Cat6 or Higher would be fine.
Would mostly use this to browse, email, and some file transfer. No Streaming or gaming type stuff.
Also wondering if prepaid would be best because I won't be using this all year maybe only 6-9 months. So I would want to turn it off and not pay. Sort of use a needed. If that is available?

Now the confusion. The general feel I get is the cell companies don't want you doing this cel internet type of thing. Seems like it is born out of need, saving money, and cord cutting so to speak. Which I am in favor of.. 8-). So how best do I do this do I get a second cell phone/plan, get a tablet/pan or get a hotspot/plan, byod/plan, and use one of those Sims?

I won't be using this in my home It will mostly be in a mobile vehicle or moved physically from place to place. Am I over thinking this should I just get a Hotspot router? I think no because there seems to be more functionality, load balancing, failover and multi wan in ROOter.

Sorry I talk so much...
