ATT mobley to T-Mobile Home internet with RM502Q-AE

Post by gedi223 »

I purchased the RM502Q-AE last year and was using with an att mobley plan, of course the service has been spotty lately as I think ATT is trying to kill it.

I do have T-Mobile Home internet and was looking to switch the sims out.

the modem is currently in a wg1608 with rooter on firmware RM502QAEAAR11A02M4G
do I need to upgrade the firmware?

What settings should I change (APN, TTL, MTU?)
Are there any specific AT commands I should check on the modem or change any internal modem settings?

I know that the tower has n41, n71, B2, B12, and B66

thank you

APN changed changed to match gateway.
IMEI must match gateway.
That is all that is needed.

Follow up to my question

I could never get it to connect.

I was able to get the updated firmware from quectel forums (but found it was available on modems and men rooter website) I used qfirehose and a usbstick to update it without issue (instructions in this forum)

I then upgraded the rooter firmware to the latest autobuild off modems and men website

and both seemed to fix the issue.

Now to trim down the antenna cables (10m only need 4m will trim to five and add some new right angle connectors)

so far speeds are slightly better than the nokia, but more stable connection to n41
