wg1608 config/software?

Trying out my first router/modem. WG1608 w/ em12-g. So far i've been finding most of my answers via search.
Haven't had any luck finding more info about a couple issues:
  • is there a better way to 'configure' the modem rather than using browser and visiting 192.168.1.1? Any dedicated software for that or is browser best?
  • Mine appears to be pre-loaded with the following soft/firmware. Any advice on whether this is a good version for my case?" Powered by LuCI openwrt-18.06 branch (git-20.029.49294-41e2258) / GoldenOrb_2020-06-10"
Attached is a screenshot of my browser for clarity.
