3rd Party AT&T service drops

Post by tfunk02 »

I have a Cradlepoint 850 1200M with AT&T service from a 3rd party. This is the second provider of AT&T I have had this problem with. The connection will be great and drop most internet until reboot 2 to 3x/day. I say most because I can still see my cameras for a while and can always reboot the modem from off the network and away from the house, so it isn’t a total loss of connection but most. I have a feeling it is AT&T doing this since they have been chasing of 3rd party providers, but I’m coming here it see if I’m wrong or if there’s anything I can do to circumvent it. I also know that many people are having similar issues from my thread on my University's fan tech board. Any insight appreciated. I’ve tried searching around, but haven’t seen my issue. Let me know if I can provide anything else to you all. Thanks!

It seems to be a silent proxy server issue they've caused. Basically certain major http ports, like 80, just stop transmitting. A simple reset fixes it. You can also force the modem to change bands to fix it.

Thanks for the reply. I had not found that information anywhere before.

I have been doing a reset when it occurs, but was hoping I could automate a fix or circumvent the issue. I haven't found a way to make the Cradlepoint reboot on its own besides the daily scheduled one. When you say a band change fixes it, is it only on certain bands or do you mean changing on-the-fly fixes it? Would setting up my own proxy server, VPN, etc help fix the issue at all? I appreciate any links or advice about the issue.
