They will charge you extra for going over 100GB. If you need a high data plan you will have to look to other options. I practically begged Verizon to sell me their Home LTE service, but they would not. The tower is 1.25 miles from my house, and my neighbor has it and it works great. They could not provide a reason for not selling it to me, just a list of potential reasons. Very frustrating company to deal with.

Re: 4x4 MIMO modem and 2x2 MIMO external antenna?
I'm fairly new to all of this so I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at/for.
Back to the MIMO 2x2 topic, do you have any idea why it might be giving me an ERROR response when I try to set the value of lte4x4mimo/disable ?

ERROR
Which is weird, because as you ...

Re: WG1608 with an EM160GL (total newbie) need help with setup.
Hello,
Recently had issues with the new openwrt stuff not having certificate done. Had to use chrome put in the 192.168.1.1 then will get error. Have to go to advanced in the window of the error and say go anyway.
Also do a control and F5 before hand while in chrome.
Hope maybe this helps.

Re: Optimal setup for RV
If it were me, I would start with something simple, and see how it works. If it is good enough for your needs then you're good. If not, you build from there and you'll have the benefit of that experience to know which direction to go before dropping $2k on a setup.

Great info. Thanks to both of you. I'm using AT&T and have no need for Band 71. Sounds like the EM160 will be a good choice for my situation.

Re: LTE Modem purchase Question
Hey todddw, I see from one of your other posts that you are also running a Quectel EM160. Just wondering how these two modems compare? Was the EM160 worth the extra money?toddw wrote: Tue Feb 23, 2021 1:02 pm I run the 7411 on tmo, have gotten it up to over 80mbps when it aggregates 71 and 66, ymmv depending on tower....

Re: 5 year RV nomad looking for better mobile solutions.
So I bought a Pi 3B+. Neat little device. I'm running Rooter/Goldenorb and it works really well, just tethering for now while I test it out. I don't understand how you run Speedify with OpenWRT or Goldenorb as the operating system.

Re: Installing Antenna in attic
Sometime where you think makes the most sense for it to be could be the worse place for it. Like have seen the other end of the house farther away from tower be a better spot for it for example. Or just moving it over like a few feet make a big difference. Sure it has something to do with the ...

Re: Installing Antenna in attic
I currently have my antenna in the attic. Yes, it works and it does help improve signal strength.
The biggest problem with attic placement is the high frequency bands don't penetrate buildings very well. So you really need to get the antenna outdoors and elevated to pick up those frequencies. And ...

Re: NEWBIE: Mofi 4500 Sim 7 Using Visible SIM. Set-Up & Optimization. *HELP*
Sorry for the late reply. Glad you made some progress! 14 Mbps on the download is really not too bad for a Sim 7. That will likely fluctuate depending on what time of day (slower in the evenings with more congestion on the network). Is that as good as it gets? Hard to say. An external antenna could ...

Hi - I'm still a newb, but learning fast. I would like to ask some really basic questions. Is the Pi functioning as a router? What operating system is the Pi running (sorry, I've never used one)? Could you offer some guidance on how I could set that up?

4x4 MIMO vs Twin 2x2's
I'm looking to implement a 4x4 MIMO antenna solution for a Quectel EM160R-GL modem. I already have a 2x2 directional panel antenna.
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on adding a second 2x2 vs buying an all in one 4x4. The cost difference is not that much. I'm more curious about the potential ...

One more note, some users here are running TTL at 117 for Verizon. I have never tried it. But might put that on your list of things to try.

What about trying some other TTL's? 64,65. I'm no longer using Verizon (switched to AT&T), so not sure if that is worth trying or not.

A fellow Sim 7 owner here. Definitely test a few TTL's, as Didneywhorl is suggesting. If your unit is like mine, IPV6 was not enabled, and I left it that way.

Re: EM160R-GL antenna pin outs?
Great. Thanks for the info. I am still contemplating my build. When I initially set up my EM160, I will only have a single 2x2 panel antenna. It may be a while before I spend the extra $230 to get the second antenna. Sounds like I could just run it in 2x2 mode (for lack of better term) until I get ...

Re: EM160R-GL antenna pin outs?
By disabling 4x4, is it defaulting to 2x2? And therefore you would still get CA, just in the 2x2 format?

Re: Would like some advice on a router build
, being prepped for 600MHz isn't cost effective given the pricetags of the 600MHz antennas.
I just wanted to point out that I recently bought a directional panel antenna that covers the 600Mhz frequency. I thought the price was pretty good at $220 and it included 2 LMR 400 cables, pigtail ...

Hi there - no worries about jacking the thread :-) From the research I've done, boosters are not recommended for data, only for voice calls. Others can chime in if that is not true. You're better off to run a 2x2 MIMO antenna hooked directly to the ...

Re: First Build, Mofi replacement, Budget $500(ish)
Anytime!
MOFI isn't a terrible unit, its just marketed to be WAY more device than it is and all you are really paying for is the firmware. They don't tell you that its modem is very dated and the wifi throughput is trash. They say high speed cutting edge! Then charge over $300 for them. Nuts. But ...
