The RM500Q-AE is what you want for 5G imo. Its the NSA version I've recently been told by user BillA. I would wait for the Quectel EM160. Its cat 16 4G with 4x4 MIMO.
If you just want a cheap LTE modem that does the job, then look at teh Quectel EP06, or some SIMCOM equivilents.

I'm just adding to the post since I've done the mod :) I've tested it on both the 1.0.0.X fw. You really only need it if pin ...

Re: Is there any method to enable Telnet on MR6550 FW 12.01.44.00
telnet is already enabled on this model and this platform with no need to do anything to enable it
Port 5510 is open on it, whatever you used to scan ports was wrong and misread the ports, there are several other ports
open on this device and firmware then what you listed, perhaps its time for you ...

Re: Having zero luck with T-Mobile tablet plan SIM in GL-AP1300
It may just be a janky SIM card. I know you got it working in other devices, but it might just be a tad off. Order a new SIM for that line and try again.
Shoot us a screenshot of the error you are seeing, as well.

Re: WG1608 unresponsive after flashing from bootloader
I usually revert to using the usb ttyl / UART serial pins to see what's happening in the bootup phase. You will want to use the 16M firmware images, very unlikely you have a 32M version, and even then the 16M version will work.

Attached is the latest firmware for the RM502QA from Quectel. To use it with Orbi, you'll need SSH access and the WinSCP tool.

Re: MC7455 / EM7565 vs. Quectel EP06 IMEI Change
I've never seen this. Either the card already has an inherent issue, or you are issuing a command to reboot it? OR your router has a watchdog feature that is rebooting the modem in an attempt to get online. You'll need to disable that annoying bit of software.
