I want to use my teknikal 9500V with my new Netgear Orbi (AC1200) mesh WiFi router system. What steps should I take to implement/use the Orbi WiFi mesh WiFi instead of the built in WiFi?
The following is a general guide on configuring the two routers so only the Netgear's WiFi will be used, therefore you will have to research and find the proper menu items for changing these settings.
First, connect to the teknikal's web interface via a LAN cable from a PC (not WiFi!), disable the built-in WiFi interface and DHCP server, then assign this port IP address 192.168.1.1 / subnet 255.255.255.0
Second, connect to the Netgear's web interface via a LAN cable from a PC (not WiFi!), configure its WiFi interface and automatic DHCP, then assign this gateway IP address 192.168.2.1 / subnet 255.255.255.0
You can also flip the IP addresses on the routers, just keep in mind whichever you have set on the Netgear Orbi will be your main DHCP for all your ethernet and WiFi connected devices.
Third, power off both routers, connect one of the yellow LAN ports from the teknikal to the WAN input on the Netgear.
Power on both routers, preferably first the teknikal, then after about a minute the Netgear in order to get the IP addresses properly (normally it shouldn't matter which gets power on first).
Note: You should be able to access each router's settings separately via a LAN cable or WiFi connected PC, by entering their assigned IP addresses (teknikal = 192.168.1.1 / Netgear = 192.168.2.1)
Good luck!
