Wireless Joint

Hello!


I currently have a Nexus 7 tablet that controls my infotainment system in car. It has a LTE modem built in that has bands 2 and 4 that are supported by t-mobile. I am looking for a solution that allows for more bands and hopefully better speeds. I have found several devices that support the desired bands, but I haven't found one that boots quickly(or can resume from a low power sleep mode). The current tablet is 15 seconds from key on to music streaming over LTE

Any support or ideas you have are greatly appreciated.

Nice to have:

Ideal Boot or Resume Time:
10-15 seconds

There's no way to "add" more bands to any device if the hardware simply doesn't support it.
But, you could upgrade the tablet to one which has all your desired bands, with the shortest bootup time on higher end devices. From low to high cost:

Hello Bill,

Thank you for your ideas. I wasn't intending to add more bands to my current device, I was intending to supplement it with a different device like a hotspot that I can then connect to the tablet. The existing tablet would then no longer manage the LTE connection.

Sadly it is not practical to replace the tablet as it has software modifications to make it work properly in a vehicle. That a long with physical constraints make other tablets not very feasible.

A hotspot that boots quickly would be ideal. But I haven't found one that can boot fast enough.

Oh sorry, I may have misunderstood your exact requirements.
The only way you'll get a "fast booting" hotspot, is if you leave it on at all times. Course it would have to be powered on at all times, though some have up to 12 hours internal standby batteries when the ignition is off. For the hotspot you could also use an external 20-50Ah LiPo power pack, which would last for many days if not weeks on one charge. Sometimes you'll have to compromise a little to accomplish your goals.
