Sierra Wireless EM7511 Aggregation Issue

LTE Band :
B2 (Bandwidth 10 MHz) aggregated with:
B29 (Bandwidth unknown) aggregated with:
B11 (Bandwidth unknown)
The tower this is connected to is B2, 12, 30. I can connect to each band individually but when i try to get 2 bands together i get this. Does this mean i cannot put these bands together?

what bit mask are you entering to lock bands?

AT!USBCOMP?
Config Index: 1
Config Type: 3 (Generic)
Interface bitmask: 0000010D (diag,nmea,modem,rmnet0)

Thats not band locking, thats for the modem device communication protocol. QMI mode

Try to lock your band list to the three that you know you can connect to, the rest it up to the tower, you have no control over it (search for JimHelm's band lock calculator/spreadsheet).
Also, if you have a CAT-6 modem, only 2 bands can be aggregated, and if you got a CAT-9 or higher modem, then 3 or more bands can be used. Again, all you can do is narrow down your band list to just a few, and hope for the best.

I meant like the numbers for the bands ie 'bitmask'
The command being :
AT!Band=0F,"2 and 12 and 30",0,2000802
2000802 the combined bitmask. I may be using the wrong term

that is what i did try but it just wont lock to them

AT!BAND=0F,"2,12,30",0,20000802
Thats when i get
B2 (Bandwidth 10 MHz) aggregated with:
B29 (Bandwidth unknown) aggregated with:
B11 (Bandwidth unknown)

Something screwy going on with your modem.
I would either do full factory reset or flash it again with the latest firmware.
AT!ENTERCND="A710"
AT!RMARESET=1
AT!BAND=00 <Probably not needed, but just for good measure;)
AT!RESET
Then without setting any bands, see if you get the correct CA connections (or at least not get band 11 and 29)
AT!ENTERCND="A710"
AT!GSTATUS?
The idea is to isolate the issue in larger chunks first, then narrow it down in smaller steps.

"PS state: Not attached" - means that your modem wasn't able to enter Packet Switched mode, therefore no internet.
Test your sim card inserted into a regular/smart phone, just to see if you can make a call and go online, before proceeding to avoid wasting time.
Seems like your modem is constantly scanning for channels.
Check your antenna connectors, make sure they are nice and tight (check for cracks on both the modem and router's board connectors).
If you live a low signal area, that could also be a factor.
Try reflashing your modem TWICE in order to refresh everything including its NVM.
Other than that, you could try a pair of high gain uni-directional antennas.
So try to work throught the list one step at a time, and never do more than one procedure at a time, otherwise you won't find out the exact cause for your issue.

It works in every mode but the 4G now, i used the sim in another router and it picked up the 4g just fine.

Good job, just leave it like that, don't mess around with locking bands, and let the modem's firmware do the scanning. It's programmed so that it constantly searches out the best channels/CA (unless you want to of course).

Ahh, so the RMA reset caused it to choose a different firmware image?

Yes. EM75XX has trouble with that command. It defaults back to Verizon.

Resetting any of the EM75XX to OEM seem to have random results.
You will need to update the modem with the latest Generic firmware, and flash it twice.
Also note that some of the band and signal stats that the modem returns may not be correct. This is a known bug in the Sierra Wireless EM75XX firmware. The latest was thought to correct some of the issues.

Guess the moral of the story is the good old "If it ain't broke, then don't fix it!"

With the AT!IMPREF="GENERIC" command you used earlier.
You can also update the firmware to the latest Generic firmware. Doing so will automatically set it as the preferred carrier firmware.

is there a special way to update the firmware for the chip? or do i basically just go to flash firmware in r00ter?

The modem firmware cannot be updated/flashed via GoldenOrb/ROOter.
The usual process requires placing the modem in an USB to M.2 adapter and using a Windows or Linux PC.
It may also be done via Sierra Wireless
AirVantage platform is you have an internet connection. The instructions can be found on the link.

Signal strength looks fine, but "IMS reg state: No Srv" may not be.
Have your rebooted your router once or twice after the upgrade?
Have you done the initial setup (MBIM/QMI mode, APN), including the selection of the "generic" firmware?

Don't forget a good power cycle when making changes trumps a simple at!reset or reboot button too. Sometimes stuff jsut doesnt seem to work, then I unplug it and plug it back in and boom, werkz.
But you may have not set the mode and firmware like Bill said, it may have defaulted back to a branded firmware image after you loaded up the new firmware image, putting you back to where you were a few posts ago.. The Sierras hold multiple firmware images per carrier and a slot for generic I think.
Verify with the command: AT!IMPREF? It should tell you what its using

The"IMS Svr: No Srv" is normal for a router since it does not use voice and multimedia communications.
Curiously, was the generic firmware used with the AirAdvantage?
I would upgrade the modem firmware a second time. I find this is often necessary on the Sierra Wireless EM75XX modems to function properly.

They default to the generic but in advanced settings you can choose to go with a wireless carrier.
I might try the wireless carrier firmware when I get the antennas delivered and setup to see which one might be better.
