MC7455 and EM7455

Hello.
So are these two basically the same thing? Reason I ask is that it is common to see the EM7455 drastically cheaper than the MC7455.

The EM7455 is commonly used in laptops. If it is a vendor branded EM7455 (i.e., not an OEM), the PID/VIDs must be changed to work in a router.

You should be able to find the technique and more information on this forum by doing a search.

@gscheb Yes, as far as I'm aware they are identical, with the only difference being the interface.

The MC7455 has an mPCIE/MSata connector.

The EM7455 uses the smaller M.2 connector.

There is one other difference: The antenna connections. The larger MC7455 uses U.FL size antennas. The EM7455 uses the MHF4 size antenna connection.

If you are like me and trying to get 4g on your device on the cheap, get the EM7455 and use an M.2 to MSata adapter (make SURE it uses the B-key, M.2 devices are key'd differently, the EM7455 has the B key. This worked for me in my Thinkpad X230.
