Router is a RT-AC68U with ROOter Golden Orb 2017-12-15 (No WiFi).
Cell tower has B2(20MHz), B12(10MHz), and B30(10MHz). I'm considering picking up the EM7565 just so I can get 3CA 40MHz, but that would be overkill.

That is exactly what I’m thinking of doing with my RT68, but I need WiFi on the router and don’t want to use a second WiFi router.

Doesn't the latest version of Rooter firmware support WiFi on the RT-AC68U?

Bought a ac-68u off ebay last month at right price. Was excited about the deal, but to my dismay no wifi. Just checked back and there is no update to my current installed firmware. Sadly, no wifi...

Yeah, you gotta do some careful research before deciding on a mobile router, as you can see, price ain't everything... the latest update I see for the AC68U is dated 2019-03-10

The WG3526 is definitely a lot more active device, with the latest firmware dated 2019-12-11

Apologies if this should instead be a new thread, but how can we be sure that those two antenna on the LTE modem are actually LTE and not WiFi antenna?

Typically wifi antennas are reverse polarity, and are not compatible with the LTE SMA setup. The antenna will screw into LTE SMA connector, but wifi sma-rp antennas are female and LTE SMA bulkhead connectors in the cases are female as well.

Sure, but if you look at the pictures for the modem/enclosure that danielewood posted, the connectors are RP-SMA type connectors.
I ordered one from Amazon that looks like that one and it should arrive Monday.

How can you tell? The only way I can is by looking into the end of the connector, the outsides are identical between RP-SMA and SMA. That is something I've never had get mixed up..... Yet

Not all pictures have that angle but for those that do, the antenna side is male and the chassis is female.
Amazon will ship it to me tomorrow.
