I was able to access OPENLOCK and OPENMEP on MR6500 on 12.xx firmware.

A few months ago I bought a used MR6500 PRO (AT&T) online and was sad to see that it was on 12.xx firmware. I should have done my homework beforehand as I assumed they should all be moddable.

I know Rich provides a valuable service in unlocking these but I wanted to see if I could exhaust all options first. Taking a cue from another poster in another thread who stumbled upon it, I flashed a MR6550 firmware downloaded from one of the threads stickied in this forum.

Using Sierra Keygen, I was successfully able to access OPENLOCK and OPENMEP. I'm currently typing on a laptop connected to my MR6500 using a TMOBILE SIM with an identical IMEI from my issued TMOBILE GATEWAY INTERNET ROUTER.

Maybe Rich can chime in with how this is possible as I thought it is currently not feasible without some hardcore technical stuff.

The firmware flashes the software part of the UI/Linux OS, possibly some parts of the modem, but nothing related to enabling disabled bands on the 6500 and other models with only select bands enabled.

I have not attempted to enable any bands as my primary goal was to be able to unlock the device, change the IMEI, and change the TTL. After buying the device and not knowing it was on 12.xx firmware, I was under the impression I was screwed.

You're just going to have a bad time using a 6500 on Tmo since it doesn't support any of Tmo's 5G bands.

A fair warning, but not everyone needs super high speeds. Even around 20 Mbps is fine for general browsing and single stream video.
Of course the "Mooohr da betta!". lol

I'm getting 150/20 at the moment using a mobile SIM. Much better speed than I was getting using TMo's home internet with their gateway. This is a secondary location so it's more than adequate.

mr6500-1a1nas doesn’t support n71 band.

How is it possible?

Not the guy you responded to but you're right. It does not have band 71. With that said, on a good day, I can pull close to 200/50.
