Bricked RM500Q-AE

Post by bcd1975 »

I have a RM500Q hooked up to a netgear r7800 router. Had a storm where lightning hit the power line causing a power surge. It corrupted the firmware on the netgear router, was able to reinstall that firmware with no problems. However the Rm500q is dead in the water, it doesn’t show up in a sled hooked directly to a computer. Is it now a paper weight or does anyone know how to bring it back to life

IS the Netgear running Rooter?

If so, look at the modem/debug screen and see if anything shows up there.

Alternatively hook it to a Linux machine and in the terminal/CLI run:

Code: Select all

lsusb
(IE: LSUSB)

and see if it shows up on the USB bus.

If none of those shows up you MIGHT have a paperweight. I have a hand full, I feel the pain.
