Just seeking clarity.
The video marketing for this device had me confused for a second

Wouldn't one use a Netgear MR100 in an outdoor enclosure for a less obstructed signal, ultimately sending data out to a switch or computer?

This POE splitter is sending power out to a device but it is also data (Internet) out

Do you think a non savvy consumer maybe misguided into believing that the POE switch's data is bi directional? and believing that data from the mr100 is being sent back to the switch?
or am I overthinking it and have it wrong?

It's literally just an ethernet connection that takes poe power and splits it to a power plug. The data on all ethernet is bi-directional.

So you're right, it is both sending and receiving data. the power is being "sent" form the POE injector source to the splitter which isolates that power to a plug so that the ethernet portion off the splitter doesn't fry the non-poe capable device it is connected to. This allows the POE like use of non-POE devices, like the M1 hotspot.

The use case being, to put the M1 up in a location that has strong signal and allowing the use of the hotspot via it's ethernet connection back into the "house" and distribution throughout with a switch or second router.
