T-Mobile as Backup

I am planning on using T-Mobile as my backup provider. My choices are:
$50 Simply Unlimited Phone plan (When do they throttle this?)
$50 Internet Data plan 50GB
I think either would be enough but would one be more reliable than the other?

There is a thread ongoing right now about 2 people with difficulties in getting a Calyx sim to work in a device other than provided by Calyx.

On the subject of which is more reliable I would think the stand alone data plan would be. Phone plans that have been jiggered to work as data devices so that data is not counted against hotspot (tethering limits) are always open to the provider terminating due to TOS violation.

I have tried several times. By phone, chat, in store. Not available at my location.

Sometime can use another address to get it. Know of people doing this. Family or friend address.

Put yourself on waiting list

I decided for now I will use T-Mobile 50GB for $50 plan as a backup to my AT&T 100GB for $55 primary plan. Both are month to month so I can change either at any time. If T-Mobile Home Internet comes available I may go that way.
Today I told HughesNet to cancel my 50GB @ $147/mo service after over 13 years. They were sad to see me go (bastards!). I have wanted to do that for SO long.
If Starlink had come through it would have made things easier but that is now looking like at least mid 2023.
You guys help me out and I appreciate it.

I get a little stronger and better signal from AT&T but it may take a while to see what really works best overall. Visible plays too many games.
Just put the T-Mobile Sim in a Quectel EM160 modem I just got, changed to 2x2 mimo with AT command for now to see how this works. So far not much better than Sierra EM7455.
