WE826-T2 WAN Interface showing up when no link

i'm working on configuring load balancing and i've noticed that using ethernet to my home Wifi Router (DSL), the WAN interface will not realize that it has lost its link and initiate the failover. In the Network, Interface menu, the WAN interface will show connected and continue to increase the time connected even when the physical connection has been unplugged from the home WiFi Router to simulate a failure.
I have been able to successfully test this configuration using the WWAN connecting to the same router with Wifi instead of ethernet. When I turn off the WiFi on the home router, the WWAN interface drops the connection and the failover to WAN1 (MC7455 modem) is successful. When the home router WiFi is turned back on, the WWAN interface shows up again and takes back over from the MC7455.
Has anyone else experienced this situation, and is this post about
Modem Manager addressing this issue? Seems like a bug in the WAN port not realizing the link has been lost.

Update: After further testing, the WWAN is showing the same symptoms. In previousd test, the home WiFi was turned off and that that point, the WWAN interface realized it had no more connection. In the most recent test, the Home Wifi was left enable, but the uplink to the Home router was unplugged (DSL) removing its internet uplink, but leaving the Wifi Intact. The WWAN interface continued to show a connection, and the connection time continued to increase.
I attempted the ping test that is in the connection monitoring configuration to ping Google's DNS (8.8.8.8) and i was able to ping it in a command prompt on the PC directly connected to the WE826-T2. Seemingly, it appeared that the WWAN had failed over to the WLAN1 (modem), but no websites were working. if I tried to ping something that was not in the connection monitoring configuration (yahoo.com) it failed but then I could go back and ping 8.8.8.8.
Something seems very wrong with this. Has anyone successfully configured failover with either WAN or WWAN and had it realize through connection monitoring that the uplink is no longer viable? I'm following the ofmodemsandmen tutorial on
load balancing. I have the 3-10-2019 (16M) rooter build for the we826-T2.

I personally have never used the load balancing on the WE826-T2 with GoldenOrb. This may be a question that is best answered on the
Whirlpool ROOter forum.
Be interesting to find out though. Please report back your results.

Jim, thank you.... I have posted on that forum as well. Going a different route, can you tell me which routers you have been successful in configuring the load balance/failover on? I'm not married to the 826-T2...

Its been a while but I was using a Linksys WRT1900acs running the Dec 2017 GoldenOrb for load balancing.
It appears the solution maybe to disable Connection Monitoring. This was provided on the GoldenOrb Whirlpool forum:
Connection Monitoring and Load Balancing don't play together very well.
The problem is that Load Balancing, when set up for Failover, will take the ping test from the modem and route it through the other interface when the modem goes down.
So the ping test never fails. Load Balancing knows the modem is down by its ping test so it just reroutes all traffic through the other interface. Connection Monitoring still thinks its ping test is working.
Since I didn't write the Load Balancing package it doesn't have any provisions for handling Connection Monitoring.
It is a problem that I need to look more closely at and see if it can be fixed.

Thanks Jim.... one issue I see that makes no sense to me, connection monitoring or not, is that the WAN interface continues to show connected even after I pull the cable from the port. Shouldn't the 826 realize the link loss and down the interface accordingly?

One would think that should be the case in failover mode, though not so sure about load balancing.
I need to re-familiarize myself with these functions. I will upload the latest GoldenOrb on the WE826-T2 when I get some spare time and see what I can figure out.

For the record, i'm referring to a recently flashed/reset 826 with no load balance configuration setup. So last night, I did a router reset from the firmware/backup screen resetting all configurations back to original. Configured the Modem, got it online. Plugged in the WAN connection let it stabilize. Then unplugged it and it continued to show up and connected.
I'll reflash the firmware to make sure I don't have anything lingering.

I would reflash with the latest GoldenOrb using the
firmware recovery menu. This should help overwrite any configurations in files that may be otherwise left behind.
