Changing LTE Routers

Hey guys,

I am wondering if someone has some suggestions or ideas which way I can go.
One of our carriers has a plan which is locked to a groupe of huawai modems.
unfortunately these modems dont offer band locking which iswhat we need for the areas we are in.
If we attempt to use the SIM in a different brand such as a Mikrotik, it comes back as unsupported device.

I am wondering if there is a way to get around this?
Im guessing its either IMEI or MAC locked.
Can routers be modified with a new MAC or IMEI. It would be nice if i could trick the sim into thinking my Mikrotik LTE Router is one fo the Huawai routers.

Cheers

You can change the imei, its called imei repair.

The Wireless Joint forum is served (servers reside) and mostly used in the US for many US based cellular data users, and the FCC in the US doesn't make it legally clear about changing the imei. It seems to be illegal here. So we have to lean towards not talking about how to do that here to be on the safe side.

That said, IMEI is most likely the only way carriers are identifying the actual device. So if you did repair the imei my guess is it would work. I would advise to own the imei of the device you are pulling the imei from.

Use at your own risk.
