Build YO mifi with GoldenOrb Re: pigtail coax style requirements, dB loss etc

Regarding the antenna jumper style in build your own USB board setups based on a Rooter router, is there any significant advantage to using a larger coax for the 6" pigtail coming off the modem card than the micro thin (sorry too lazy to try to find the coax number and I tend to forget over time). How much dB loss would be assumed and is it worth the danger in using a thicker coax for a jumper when the device is going to be used mobile and undergo rough terrain where this would place more strain on the jumpers than in a solid setting.
