WG3526>EM20 loosing connection

Post by bcase7090 »

A few weeks ago i finally for done building modem/router, 4x4 enclosure, WG3526, EM20 and a POE injector. it's on the sprint network and locked to band 41. About once or twice a day it needs a reboot, at first i set the connection monitoring to reboot the modem, ping 8.8.8.8 incase it went out, more recently i told told it to reboot the whole thing, but it still drops out, here's the log from the most recent one, am i missing anything on why it keeps dropping?

Bump

Does anyone have any insight on this, it's getting annoying when it disconnects and reboots.

Is the EM20 in a USB adapter or in a mini-pcie to M.2 adapter?

Also have you tried the latest WG3526-P firmware?

I know the EM20 can do weird crap, but that looks like the router is dropping the bus completely.

Is it just losing connection, or is the modem rebooting/resetting?

Checking your logs again, it looks like you have the connection monitor on and it is resetting your modem when ping no longer responds.

You also have the NWSCANMODE set to 0, which allows non LTE connections. I usually set mine to 3 (LTE only)

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="NWSCANMODE",3
Your in QMI mode it seems. I like mine to be in mbim.

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="usbnet",2
then

Code: Select all

AT+CFUN=1,1

I DO NOT want to hijack this thread, but could you share why you like mbim--over QMI mode??
and what would be the AT command to return it back to QMI mode, if things did not work out.
Thanks

I prefer it as I find it's overall top speeds to be higher on average, and for some reason Verizon connections tend to work more often then not when in MBIM vs QMI. Visible included. IT shouldn't be that way, but it's what I find. I just have better overall luck connecting to different plans in MBIM vs QMI.

For all Quectel Modems:
MBIM:

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="usbnet",2
then

Code: Select all

AT+CFUN=1,1
QMI:

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="usbnet",0
then

Code: Select all

AT+CFUN=1,1

I have exactly the same problem with my ZBT-WE826 + Sierra EM7455, every 3-4 hours it looses internet connection and I have to restart wwan. I tried Rooter, OpenWRT, MBIM and QMI mode and also ModemManeger but the problem is always the same. I don't think that can be hardware related because Volts value and also lte signal are good.

Did you found anything good to solve?

Have you tried checking the option to "Drop Invalid Packets" ?
