I just got set up with a new WG1608 5g router and I am looking to replace my old router. Unfortunately, my house is pretty big (around 5000sqft) and the range on the router isn't quite what I was hoping for. I was wondering if I could simply upgrade the 2.5/5Ghz antennas or If I am better off buying a big commercial router or mesh kit and using the new router as a modem. I would really prefer to use my new router especially since I paid a lot for it, but I understand if 3rd party antennas don't work. I am also looking forward to 5ghz support in the future! :D

I always add a dedicated WiFi access point or mesh system that plugs in via ethernet to the router, and turn off the routers wifi radios to give full power to the modem. Its really the best way in my opinion.
