MOFI 4500 SIM 7 V3 running on Verizon Unlimited with sluggish speed

Hi,
I have a MOFI 4500 Sim 7 V3 router connected to a cell tower with an RSSI -53dBm and an ECIO (RSRQ) of -11dBm running over a Bonded Speedify VPN. I am getting 14.2Mbits down and 12.0Mbits up. My Motorola XT1585 6237 gets 49.2Mbits down.
The MOFI is locked on LTE Band13 with 10MHZ up and down. But LTE Band4 has 20MHZ up and down. The MOFI is wired over Ethernet to my CPU and I am connected to my cellphone via WIFI. What is limiting my speed. I just got everything dialed in this weekend and I can not figure out why I am not seeing better speeds on the MOFI.
When I use a network analyzer app on the cell phone, it shows an RSSI of -103 on the same cell tower. The cell phone also is using LTE Band 66 with 20MHZ up and down.
Any recommendations to improve speed out of the MOFI? ;)

Don’t take this the wrong way, I Have a MoFi.
But the MoFi is a Cat-4 Modem and your phone is a Cat-7.

Not a fair comparison!

Also the MoFi has a N-Type, WiFi-4, a little dated.

To get more speed I think you may need to up your hardware game.

On a happy note I am very impressed with your signal and the
fact that you got onto Verizon's network!! :o

Combo of cat modem and using band 13. Band 13 on verizon is slower and commonly over congested.

Depends on location. In Western North Carolina mountains, Band 66 not so much. Band 13 Flys here.

testing and analysis on what works for you.

But also here fiber to the sites is scarce. Backhaul Microwave site to site, with carriers sharing those facilities seriously degrade overall capable capacity.

But this is here. Other areas are much different.

HI,
Thanks John and others for the info.
So I should test all the bands available and go with the fastest?
As noted before, Band 4 shows 20Mhz up and down. I assume that means that Band4 can handle twice the bandwidth of Band 13. Is that a correct assumption?
Is it more faster and robust to lock to a band or let the modem free float?

Is it possible to swap out the MOFI Modem with a Cat 6 or 7 modem? Is it an M2 board? Will it require a firmware upgrade of the MOFI to allow it to control the new modem?

Yes just go with what ever runs the best.
Yes more Mhz a band has more potential for faster speeds cause it has more bandwidth.
Personally wouldn't modify mofi. They have resale value on ebay. For what you get for it could just start off fresh or use it as back up. Always good idea to have back up device. Sometimes things just go squirrelly!
